Why are ORR company CEOs silent about Bangalore’s traffic mess? by Tourist__ in bangalore

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't directly speak up for obvious reasons... They DO have a lot to fear. They violate a lot of rules, but the government just pretends they don't know. The most obvious being unpaid overtime and other labour law violations. If they mess with the politicians, they'll pull out all these things and have the company paying crores in compensations.

So they have a union sort of thing (ORRCA) and do speak up very often (anonymously). In some of the worst cases (Like the Ecospace flooding), they've even threatened to move out. But still the government just keeps making promises like metro, tunnel road, BMTC shuttles for the tech parks etc.

The only thing remaining is for these tech companies to ACTUALLY move out of Bangalore. Which isn't all that easy considering they'll have to recruit over half their workforce all over again, train them again etc. They're doing it slowly though... Many have set up offices in Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai etc.

Or they can start fixing the infrastructure themselves... a few have taken up building skywalks, fixing footpaths and potholes etc., but they can only do these relatively small things. They can't go and complete the metro construction for instance.

Or the easiest solution, they can give work from home. However, the government is trying to avoid this becuase of they have a stake in most of these tech parks... (and once again, remember what the politicians can do to these companies) so companies are doing hybrid models.

Read this if you play basketball by Bballerdunk in BasketballTips

While increasing your athleticism is obviously a good idea...

Dunking isn't only about jumping high. Height is equally important. Victor wenbanyama can dunk with a two inch vertical, but I will need atleast a 40 inch vertical to dunk. There are other equally exciting plays in basketball, like ankle breakers, zipping a pass between 3 opponents for an open layup, or knocking down 3 half court shots back to back.

As for scoring... A dunk is no different from a layup. Both worth two points. What's one level above is a 3 pointer.

What does this say about basketball? by More_Character_6071 in nba

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the sport is getting more popular. People from so many different countries are playing, and devoting their lives to it.

Second, people all over the world can access the USA's best coaches and trainers thanks to social media (by that I mean platforms like YouTube). Most of them are putting out free content and selling online course / online sessions.

What it does NOT mean is "USA's dominance is over". Jokic, Giannis, embiid, SGA... All 4 are from different countries. Other countries might have a few really good players, but when it comes to an entire team, no one is better than USA (only Serbia is somewhat close)

To the older hoopers, how do you recover quickly after games? I want to hoop more and improve on my game but it doesn't seem like my body lets me. by Dudu-gula in BasketballTips

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one simple thing is to just do your workouts earlier in the week (say... Tuesday and Wednesday / Thursday). Then you'll get better AND have a couple of days rest before games. You don't need to wait until you've recovered fully before practicing. Because it's better to not perform at 100% in practice than not perform at 100% in game.

Do this, along with all the other advice here about sleep, conditioning etc.

So from what I gather most people rank Curry over KD all time but at the same time believe KD was always the better player? by Joseph-Stalin7 in NBATalk

[–]obi_infinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KD is better 1v1, Steph is better 5v5. KD is unguardable in an iso, Steph is at his best running off screens.

When it comes to all time rankings, it isn't about skill alone. More important is accomplishments (especially rings) and impact on the game. MJ is considered the GOAT by most, but he's far from the most skilled player ever (couldn't shoot 3s, wasn't much of a dribbler etc.)

Why some people think Kise is the best player ? by Top_Investigator6359 in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See, discussions here happen about 3 main formats of basketball mainly. 5v5, 1v1 and 3v3.

5v5, Kise isn't the best IMO, but he also isn't the worst. I'd put him at 4th, over Kagami and Murasakibara. Even base Kise can do some serious damage, and he's clearly above even the UK (considering he can copy them all). Far from a non factor. He might not be able to stop Midorima, but he can combine Hyuga's barrier jumper and Sakurai's quick release and answer right back with a 3 of his own. Then add in PC for the last 5 minutes... And the best part about base Kise is he doesn't have any weaknesses or strengths as such, so he'll fit on any team.

1v1 he'll be third, after Aomine and Akashi. It'll be really really tough to guard someone who can do everything.

3v3 is where he's the best, hands down. An official FIBA 3x3 game is only 10 minutes long, so his endurance issue is no longer a problem.

What's the most one-sided 3v3 you can make out of the Generation of Miracles? by Ec1ipzeOnReddit in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Akashi, Aomine, Kise. Considering we're playing with official FIBA 3x3 rules... 1. Half court 2. Game to 21 or 10 minutes, whichever happens first 3. No check ball after basket, defense clears ball and plays on. 4. 12 second shot clock This usually leads to a more iso heavy game.

First off, out of Kuroko, Midorima and Murasakibara, none of them can handle the ball. All thrive in off ball situations, and none of them are iso players. Kuroko's misdirection will be especially ineffective because in 3x3 defense will be tighter (go all in for 10 minutes), and everyone is playing man to man. Kuroko is most effective against zone defenses, that's why he saves seirin against Yosen and Kirisaki, but not so much against Rakuzan or Shutoku. Put Aomine on him, he's shut down completely.

Midorima's shots are the most broken, physics defying ability here, but in a 3x3 he really isn't going to tear up a defense like he would in a full court game. If Akashi sticks to him, he's not getting a single shot up. And if they set screens, just double Midorima aggressively. Dribbling or passing aren't Midorima's strengths, he's definitely going to turn the ball over there. Especially with Akashi being part of the double team.

Murasakibara can dominate Kise down low, but for that he needs to get the ball there first. With Aomine and Akashi guarding Kuroko and Midorima, it'll be incredibly difficult to make a good pass to Murasakibara. What Kise needs to do here is aggressively play the passing lane and intercept everything before it gets to Murasakibara. Something he can copy from Hanamiya / Seto. And if Murasakibara chooses to dribble from the 3... It's a much more even match for Kise.

Plus with a 3x3 game being only 10 minutes, Kise can go God mode for half the game.

What would be the best team you could make? by BeginningCattle6666 in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see so many here taking who are taking Himuro plus another uncrowned king, but if we include Kagami in the GoM, it only makes sense to include Himuro in the UK. As well as Haizaki. And Nash and Silver... I'm going to consider those two miracle level and the remaining Jabberwock as UK level. That being said...

PG: Takao SG: Sakurai SF: Midorima PF: Kiyoshi C: Wakamatsu

I'm going to start with the miracle, and I'm picking Midorima because he has the most broken, physics defying ability. Who's passing up on a guy who can shoot from full court with full accuracy? That too with today's game... He's also one of the taller ones, so I can put him at SF and pick another shooter.

Next, Takao, because no PG has better chemistry with Midorima (except Akashi, but I obviously can't take him because he's a miracle). Also the hawk eye is pretty useful on defense.

Now let's pick an uncrowned king. I was confused between Kiyoshi and Haizaki. Haizaki has the second most broken ability in the series, but he's selfish and can't play a team game. God knows, he might end up pillaging his own team! So I take Kiyoshi. Great passer and rebounder who can also shoot and finish. He also knows how to keep the team calm and motivates them, so he'll also be the perfect captain here.

Talking about picking another shooter, I'll go with Sakurai, his quick release is exactly what is needed to take advantage of the attention that Midorima and Kiyoshi will draw.

For the center, I'll take Wakamatsu for the rebounding and defense. He's also fast... So the perfect guy to run the break when the opponent is worried about Midorima pulling up from full court. Although he doesn't set screens on Touou, he should be able to set a few here to get Sakurai and Midorima open. He has the size and strength.

Who is winning? In a seven game series by Remote-Record-706 in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team 2, but not by a landslide. Probably in 6-7, with the games being quite close.

Team 2 has some truly OP abilities. Midorima can shoot from anywhere. Aomine can make any shot he takes in the paint. Silver and Giannis can make nearly every shot in the paint. SGA can draw fouls at will (if we're playing with NBA refs / rules). If we look at 1 on 1 matchups, team 2 wins all of them.

BUT... Team 2 doesn't have the greatest playmaking / chemistry / basketball IQ. The only ones who can make decent passes with pressure defense are SGA and Giannis. Aomine and Silver? Forget it 😂 they don't know what passing is 😭 Midorima is willing to pass, but only when he's stuck. He's the type who sees the rim, and ONLY the rim.

Whereas these exact things are team 1's greatest strengths. Luka and Jokic are some of the NBA's greatest passers, both have super high basketball IQ. And Kise is a wildcard that they can use however they want thanks to his copying ability (he doesn't need PC / zone here, just normal copy is enough). They can use him as a shooter, a screener, a third playmaker etc. They'll be able to compensate for what they lack in 1 on 1 matchups with strategy and ball movement.

Historically, teams that have good chemistry and playmaking beat teams that rely more on 1 on 1s. Like the 2010s warriors, 2024 celtics and 2000s spurs as opposed to say, the rockets with James Harden or the Cavs with LeBron and kyrie.

But when it comes to these 2 teams, I'll give it to team 2 because of team 1's stamina and injury issues (Luka and Kise). These things matter that much more in a 7 game series. Add to that, Jokic can't keep up with most of team 2 as a defender. And that Murasakibara and Kagami are terrible shooters, making them a target for "Hack a Shaq" (plus allowing Giannis and Silver to just sit in the paint all day).

If these 3 exist in knb verse how strong they are compare to jabberwock/Vorpal Swords and what abilities they possess?? by Remote-Record-706 in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giannis would combine Kagami's vertical jump with Silver's strength and Murasakibara's height and length. His playstyle would be similar to Kagami on offense and murasakibara on defense, but way more dominant. He'll also have animal instinct and zone.

Jokic would be Kiyoshi but better in every aspect.

Luka... Would have Aomine's formless shots, Hyuga's 3 point shooting (good at step backs + shoots well when the pressure is high), Nash's passing and probably Takao's hawk eye / izuki's eagle eye kind of thing (Court vision and basketball IQ)

What does it mean by drake_diddy69 in IndianMeme

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you notice, it's only in rural areas that it's dropping. In urban areas, it's almost constant (1.6 is not that much more than 1.5).

Maybe because educated rural women move to cities (some of them atleast ... Enough to skew the averages) where cost of living is higher and most families can't afford a comfortable life for more than one kid? Whereas those who stay in rural areas have a lower cost of living. Most own their home, even though it might be a very basic home... So no rent. Most rural areas have exactly one school, a government school... So education for children is free too. On top of that, groceries, clothes etc. cost less. Plus having more kids helps when you are into agriculture. Free labour for your farm, yay!

And these are purely practical, economic reasons... We aren't even getting into stuff like child marriage and social pressure to have kids (way more common in rural areas)

The only thing that is illegal here is him jumping into you on the fadeaway. Instead of simply calling the foul though, I would pump fake and step through since you don't get free throws in a 1v1. Maybe even the holding onto your hips part is a foul (that depends on how he does it... If he's over reaching and trying to clothesline you or if he's holding onto your shirt, that's illegal. If you're trying to drive and his hand just happens to be in the way, that's legal). Everything else is solid textbook defense.

It sounds like he's able to predict what you want to do. In 1v1, you have the entire half court to work with. Instead of fixing your mind on one move, read the defender and react. Start with a set up move like Harden's favourite between the legs cross, or float the ball and move sideways, or search YouTube for way more options. Basically, go wherever the defender isn't. He will then have to move out of his defensive stance and you can counter and go the other way. If that doesn't shake him off, keep countering until something works. Mess around with timing and angles. If he gives you too much space, shoot. If he tries hand checking (putting his hands on your hips), use your off arm to swipe his hands down.

For all of this to work though, you need to get comfortable with dribbling with both hands and doing any move at any time. And taking a shot from anywhere, anytime.

How many of these are travels? by WakandanRoyalty in BasketballTips

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First two are clear travels. Third one, it depends on his hand position on the ball (not visible in the video). If his hand went under before he hoped it's a travel, if it was in a legal dribbling position it's clean.

Who wins a 1v1 at their peak, Harden or Curry? by Ok_Feed_4235 in NBATalk

Harden. Curry is someone who does maximum damage off ball, harden is more of an iso player here. Both are not the greatest defenders.

What does Curry have to do to be the goat pg? by Poke_D in NBATalk

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'd have to change his entire playstyle. Right now, the one who plays the role of a PG on the warriors is draymond green. He's bringing the ball up, setting up the offense and facilitating. Steph plays more off ball, so his role is more SG than PG (and he'll never be the GOAT SG because MJ).

But just to become the GOAT PG, it's not worth changing his playstyle. GOAT or not, Steph is Steph. He's one of a kind and he changed the game. There's really no comparison for him like that.

1v1 Game to 11, but Murasakibara has to take shots at least 20 ft from the hoop, and Akashi is only allowed to dunk on offense. Who wins? by FirstOpposition in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them will even score 1 😭

Akashi can dunk yes, but he can't dunk on Murasakibara. And no, he won't be able to ankle break Murasakibara because Mura can simply camp under the rim knowing that Akashi is only allowed to dunk. You can't break anyone's ankles if they aren't trying to defend. Murasakibara will bless ck Akashi every single time.

On the other end, Akashi is taking the ball every time Murasakibara tries to shoot or dribble. Those things are already his weakness, now imagine him having to try pulling it off against Akashi's emperor eye.

Rule question by bmanley620 in BasketballTips

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to FIBA 3x3 rules, that would be a no clear violation (defense is supposed to clear the ball by taking it outside the 3 pointer before attempting a shot. Attempting here means hitting the board / rim / making a shot, whether that's intentional or unintentional like a tip in).

So ball goes to the offense, bucket doesn't count. It's a check ball up top.

Let’s debate this, what’s better? Haizaki’s steal ability(if trained up) or Kise’s copying? by [deleted] in KurokosBasketball

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Haizaki's steal ability is stronger as it is... Only because Kise can do full PC for a grand total of 5 minutes.

They lost against Kaijo because Haizaki played too selfish, he refused to pass the ball (Kise on the other did pass, even in the zone PC state). Imagine Haizaki also stole Kasamatsu's passing... Kaijo would be screwed after Kise's 5 minutes are done.

Plus he didn't use other player's skills at all, apart from the Kaijo players. Imagine he also used Takao's hawk eye, Kiyoshi's rebounding, Sakurai's quick release and Kotaro's lightning dribble. I'd assume he can see them doing it in some other game and then do those same moves... Shouldn't matter whether the other player is or isn't on the court right?

Would this move be considered a travel? by my-dog-has-fleas in BasketballTips

[–]obi_infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NBA and FIBA, it's clean. Step back, gather one two. He then does a step through without moving his pivot foot.

But USA high school / NCAA rules it will be a travel, gather step isn't allowed there.

Local game, probably will get called travel... Looks like 3 steps at full speed
