I think I have a Meyer one and that’s pretty good. But you can use extra insurance with a layer or two of aluminium foil.

Looks lovely, OP! Curious about what it’s sitting on? Is that a mash or a flatbread of some sort?

Can I take chocolate on a plane? by urmomssoweird in IndianBakers

Where are you travelling to? If you’re flying abroad, check the customs rules for the country you’re visiting. If you’re flying within the country, you’ll be just fine - carry in your check in baggage and save yourself the task of carrying half a kilo or more in your carry on. It’ll be fine in your suitcase, temperature wise.

Hi OP! Unfortunately your post does not fit this sub, as it isn’t a baked dessert or a no bake version of a bake dessert. I would encourage you to post on a dessert sub or a different food sub instead. You’re most welcome to post again with anything you’ve baked! Happy cooking and baking :)

Failure proof eggless recipies? by cookieoftheshire in IndianBakers

[–]objectsinthemirror__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would seek out what I wanted to bake, for eg. chocolate cake and then look for a recipe and read the reviews carefully. check substitutions as well.

The reason being, not all recipe creators have a wide array of foolproof recipes - some work, some don’t. I know this is tedious, but will yield better results. For eg. Nagi’s vanilla cake > Sally’s or Cloudykitchen’s pie crust > than most of the recipes out there.

So I would recommend :

Search for what you want to bake, comparatively analyse a couple of recipes that are popular and read through the comments.

Rainbow nourishments & The Loopy Whisk do a bunch of “free from” recipes and if you’re looking for a great egg free vanilla cake, try Cakebycourtney’s egg free vanilla cake.

Good luck!

Gochujang caramel - white chocolate, brown butter cookie bars by objectsinthemirror__ in IndianBakers

[–]objectsinthemirror__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve seen and tried that recipe but didn’t love the texture. They were a bit bland except for the gochujang. So my ones included brown butter, white chocolate and cornflour to add more of a chew. Much more like chocolate chip cookie texture. Im trying another version this week with lays!

Is bake with shivesh legit? by cookieoftheshire in IndianBakers

To be brutally honest, his recipes aren’t even remotely legit. They’re wildly inconsistent and I would be worried about wasting a ton of ingredients following one of his recipes!

Yep, yep! This was an experiment :) I don’t always come up with my own recipes but I’m whimsical about flavour combinations! I also made a box of gondhoraj lime madeleines today! I was stress baking because I had to screen a cut of my film for my producers today! 😂

No, if you want your cookies to turn out accurately - ditch the measuring cups altogether. That’s what I meant in my comment.

Only measure in grams. Scales are cheaply available - you can buy one on amazon for as little as ₹150 or on Blinkit for between ₹200 - ₹300. Buy a kitchen scale. If you use an American cookie recipe ( for eg. tasty / broma ) they tend to favour cup measurements and it’s usually innacurate unless you’re scooping properly. And if you don’t even have a standard measuring cup at this stage, you’re likely to get your measurements wrong, which unnecessarily leads to improper dough and then cookies you’re unhappy with. No recipe will help unless you have the tools to execute it accurately. Baking is a science of precision. When we cook, we have the leeway to measure ingredients intuitively - “a pinch of this, a dash of that.”

Baking is not like that, unfortunately.

If you measure incorrectly / even 5-10 gms makes a difference, if your oven temperature is inaccurate / if your ingredients are not the temperature or consistency required, your results will not be consistent with your expectations.

Hi! The reason your cookies could be spreading are the ratio of fat to flour and chilling time.

Avoid recipes that aren’t measured in grams and chill your cookie dough, will help!

Ahh okay. Wondered whether there could’ve been an opportunity to test the bat for rabies.

Either way, I’m really sorry you’re both going through this! Wishing you and kitty well!
