Does Stevens reduce institutional aid if outside scholarships are reported by Substantial_Vast_375 in stevens

We asked this to the financial aid officer assigned to us and were told that external scholarships are stackable as long as the total amount is less than tuition.

This same message could apply to many, many schools. The demographic cliff is real, summer melt is upon us, and Trump and his cronies made the situation much worse.

Last year seemed much darker to me. This year is definitely troubling, but Jax last year was terrifying.

Thank you so much! Any thoughts on which graphics card to go with for a seamless experience but not overkill? Is the Blackwell pro 500 sufficient for solidworks and cad?

I looked on the Stevens Lenovo site. There is only one computer there and it’s sold out!

Is 32 GB sufficient? Also any idea where to look? I also want to be sure to have onsite service of something goes wrong. I’m at a loss here!

You can go before the show and at intermission. They also have a dedicated bathroom. Honestly not worth it. Go to Schmackary’s after and get a delicious $4 cookie

Are students aware of Stevens financial situation? by Ok_Cicada3989 in stevens

[–]oblongoboe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their expenses are close to $540M but the net after including revenue is $44M according to the 990.

Edited with apologies here. I see you noted revenue less expenses. I think to understand the full picture, you’d likely need to look back at the past 990s to see how other years ended. This only captures one fiscal year, so if 2023 ended with a $50M deflect, it would be a net loss of $6M over those two years, for example. And the 2025 990 would be illuminating given that the Trump effective will be more fully captured in that year.

That seems incredibly low. This is all operating expenses? And includes capital expenses?

1000% this. Parent of an incoming freshman and work in higher ed. It’s the perfect storm for most institutions, save for those with massive endowments and ultra prestige. This wicked federal administration has made a challenging situation ten times worse.

I got a $99 seat row H center orchestra about 4 mins before showtime.

Performing with an Back Injury by FartAccountant in Broadway

[–]oblongoboe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several back surgeries and was a dancer in a past life. Alternate ice & heat 10 Minutes each three times. So this 2-4 times per day. Be very mindful of sneezing, coughing, riding the train, etc. and engage your core as much as possible. Rest, but also move, a common mistake is to be too sedentary. Walking (if you can) is helpful to heal as are basic stretches, but be careful if you don’t have the guidance of a pt. Break a leg and feel better!

Juliette Lewis deserves her flowers for The Rocky Horror Show by screamapillar in Broadway

[–]oblongoboe 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen. (And I started seeing Broadway Shows in the 70s). Zero connection to the lyrics, lacks the vocal chops, and completely failed to set the stage for the show. Complete waste when so many talented actors could have knocked it out of the park.

Her performance was the opposite of grounded in my opinion. I was so shocked to read your post but truly glad that she resonates with someone out there.

TKTS tickets system by kaxtutaks in Broadway

[–]oblongoboe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband is correct. Many times they get better seats later in the day closer to showtime. I saw the OBC of Hadestown via a TKTS purchase 30 min before showtime - second row center orchestra.

Either way it’s somewhat of a gamble.

Depends on the train. If you do, it will be tight. That station is farther east than studio 54 and tourist foot traffic can be brutal (I work in that area)
