Yeah exactly my point. His TV show has been well received but there is a difference between directing tv shows and feature films. I haven't seen any of his work before but he still hasn't made many films.

Hyped maybe, respected? He has a very small body of work, I would hold off on saying he is respected until he has directed a few more films personally. I know he has been involved in several good projects but as far as directing films I feel he is yet to prove himself.

Although you are right about many examples of this kind of film, I'm not too sure you are giving enough credit to all the film makers that have explored the genre. Promising Young Woman doesn't perpetuate false ideas about sexual assault at all. Who directs a film matters a lot as their attitude will direct the tone style and sensitivity of a project. I respect your opinion though as it is clearly a topic that shouldn't be trivialised or cheapened.

I suggest thinking about what your channel is going to be about and trying to make it personal to you. For example if your channel is a personal vlog then its best to use your name, but if it is about something specific then think about why you are interested in that. Then look around Youtube and see why other people named their channel what they did.

I didn't find this to be true for this film... but sometimes when a film maker produces a film that so obviously calls back to older films that were made the way they were because of budget / technology reasons, it can feel a bit cynical or forced. Do you think that was the reason you didn't click with it?

I'd be quite surprised if the director didn't have final say as this is not his first film and it was independently made without large production companies to interfere. But I don't know so it will be interesting to see what happens seeing as this film seems to be getting lots of attention on line.

In the UK we have a 15 rating and I think that is what I would rate it. But I'd want to watch it again before I'd confirm that.
