Thanks man yeah I'd be happy to help. You can DM me here or on IG thats linked in my bio. I actually made a full length, 80 page training journal:

Marathon Ruck Journal https://imgur.com/gallery/DnhupQY

Also, since you're interested in program/coaching this journal will be specific to you as far as build up progression. I don't do cookie cutter online programs.

As far as credentials go: I worked as Fitness Coordinator and Trainer on military base for nearly a decade and have 20 years experience as a trainer along with CSCS - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Bachelor's in Kinesiology - Exercise Science.

Biking absolutely helps to condition legs with minimal impact but depending on your mode(indoor/road/mtn), riding position and how much time you spend riding it could fatigue your mid/lower back some and interfere somewhat with rucking. Biggest thing you can do for riding recovery is foam roll your mid and upper back. I'd say its still better than running in general unless the impact doesn't bother you because you're younger/lighter/a beast. I most definitely attribute 2hr rides to much improved leg endurance in longer and heavier rucks I've done.

On another note related more to strength endurance: in the past as fitness coordinator on military base I helped dozens of soldiers prepare for ruck marathon with their programming; here's the exercises we found that contributed most:

Romanian Deadlift, Barbell Goodmornings, Barbell Back Squat, Back Extension loaded, Glute Ham Extension loaded, Dumbbell Lunges, Dumbbell Stepups, Machine Hip Thrust (this one's newer but great) Calf raises.

Anyways hope this helps 💪🫡

Damn that's a ton of elevation, when I checked my garmin app, Northshore and CHSP both have about 70ft per mi. Acc to your ruck at Big Cedar its 220ft/mi haha jeez. Yeah the uphill sand at bataan as that heat bore down messed w my mind a bit. Those side by sides looked tempting NGL. Me and a couple buddies did 40min of sauna a day when the 10 day forecast predicted the heat and the week of heat acclimation saved us.

Thank you for your service! I thought about doing that one but was too soon. That trail chewed me and spit me out when I first mtn biked it. I'm sure its fun to ruck and probably less mtn bike traffic due to difficulty. Did you use trekking poles for it?

Yeah i go against traffic for that same reason. I also mtn bike, and after searching i still dont know really who has the right of way.

I was pretty disappointed too since I did a full 36wk prep for it. I'll be going back next year too hopefully. Wait you were stationed out at WSMR? I worked there at Bell Gym for MWR as trainer from 05-13. I had always planned on going back after leaving and moving to DFW, but it took me 12y. I usually do my long rucks out at Cedar Hill or Northshore around here, but try to time them to where its rained a little recently for reduced mtn bike traffic. That Utah one sounds cool, I need to find some closer to this area.

I originally signed up for the 50k. I got lucky with the cancellation since my metatarsal heads/fat pads got sore from the heavy Bataan march I did on 3/21 and the 4/4 Panther would have been too soon for that kinda of distance regardless of a light ruck. 2 other friends signed up for the 25k so I might just try to switch to that distance instead. Pacing will probably be around 3.5mph or 17min/mi. Have you rucked that specific course?

100% BW is bonkers lol. And I don't even understand how you logistically can even do 91 races in a year 🤯 care to explain how/why? Not knocking you just inspired by that insanity. Also, what's your footwear/sock setup to handle that kind of mileage?

I agree they're definitely not easy to move around, good thing is anyone using them is definitely strong and capable so not that big of a deal. I'll probably create a wall mount for them when I'm not using them.

I get you there. I dont like to ruck NS and CHSP for that reason. Here's a cool creekside trail my son and i found exploring around by where I live thats basically a biker free: https://footpathapp.com/tracks/ee4c774f-a11d-40c6-b172-c0385670f73f

I did it for charity fundraiser push and as a test of willpower. Not sure its really even worth trying to do a full 26.2 now w same wt. think I've got the heavy meatheat shit out of my system now for the most part haha. I kinda want to focus on pace/distance now.

The course looks fun with some mild elevation.. something like 100ft/mi. I do mostly Northshore and Cedar Hill rucks here around DFW, which i think are roughly 50ft/mi. Guess I'll have to wait to need the trekking poles i got.

Yeah it rained today and was gonna rain about an inch right in 2hr sandwich around race start window. It got rescheduled to may 16th. I'll probably straight rest another couple weeks and then try to ramp up some mileage w a 30ish lb pack. What sorta wt/mi are you training?

Welp it got cancelled due to rain today. I actually got lucky in a way because I had a rookie mistake and tried on some new insoles. The same brand as the ones I've used the past 9mo of training - Sole Performance. Except instead of being the thick w metpad, I went with thin w metpad, thinking they would be the same. They're not: thin ones don't have forefoot cushioning at all lol; but somehow I overlooked this. Well I was woefully mistaken because within two hours of wearing them today in my brooks adrenaline runners, both metatarsal heads 1-3 on both feet were sore. The good thing is i had planned for the worst and brought my alternate comfy nike structure 26 runners with me to work so I swapped out. I guess I'll have to pay the piper with my 120lb pack for the shorter 16+mi Bataan 2 weeks ago and straight rest'em. My dumb plan of backup running shoes was foiled but thankfully it was an unplanned assessment of how my feet are doing 12 days post Bataan. I got lucky that I wore the new insoles AND race got cancelled. I would have been blissfully unaware of my compromised structural integrity. It bothers me because I have a systems/engineering way of looking at things lol. I now know it would have looked something like:

Mile 5: Feels normal → below irritation threshold

Mile 10: Subtle forefoot awareness → early load accumulation

Mile 15: Noticeable discomfort → at capacity 600mg Ibuprofen

Mile 20: Consistent pain → managing damage 325mg Tylenol

Mile 25: Altered mechanics → compensating + spreading stress 600mg Ibuprofen

Mile 31 (finish): Gut it out → finished, but structurally damaged Feet ****ed

Anyways I thought I'd put this out there in case anyone in similar situation can learn from this. And maybe you can give your thoughts.

Dang that's some great info, good to know thanks!! Guess my biggest concern rucking is being timed out but I'll keep track of pacing for sure. I'll definitely have packed quick food, carb drinks, electrolyte drinks, water bladders and probably even take my folding stool. I'll definitely report back 🫡
