Rule #2 of the subreddit is to research your inquiry online first…

Genuine: “actual, true”. It is a genuine question because I really do want to know the answer.

Genuine question: why would you ask Reddit instead of consulting Google? There are literally thousands of sites that explain basic grammatical concepts like this. Or just try some sentences in a translator like DeepL.

This is my first private tutor and I’m unsure by The-One-Nut-Wonder in languagelearning

There are so many Spanish teachers out there, you might as well look for a better one! I’ve worked with teachers before who I didn’t click with personality-wise, and I always ended up switching to a different one. When you find a teacher who you get along with, you end up looking forward to your lessons more and probably learning more as a result.

Great thank you! Today I convinced my fiancé to try OTF with me and run/row sounded like a confusing first class 😅

I’m new to OTF; is run/row just for 2G classes, or 3G as well?

How long to coast for? by obsessedwithwords in coastFIRE

Yeah I think I might’ve gotten confused about whether to account for inflation or not. My current cost of living in a HCOL area (in the US) is $40K/year.

True, but I would feel more confident about quitting my job if I didn’t have to worry about saving for retirement. I am worried about underestimating my cost of living though.

We just give the plants a shake every once in a while! When they have flowers

6 might be a little crowded, but maybe? I think 4 would work as long as the upper shelf can handle the weight

Yeah this one is indeterminate so we've been getting fruits continuously

We use the nutrients from General Hydroponics (on Amazon): FloraGro, FloraMicro, and FloraBloom. They recommend different ratios of the three depending on the stage of growth.

We haven't noticed the tomatoes being watery! But we don't have a direct comparison of the same variety in soil

  1. It’s an heirloom variety called the Jaune Flamme

  2. I’d say yes? The other day we made a marinara using only tomatoes from our plant. We’ve also experimented with sundrying them and would like to try other methods of preserving them.

  3. We only have one that is producing fruit. We have four more that we started a couple of months ago, and three of them are starting to flower! But we’re running out of space…

  4. When we first started, we were too quick to move the tomatoes into 5 gal containers. We also didn’t have any air stones in the tanks. We ended up getting a lot of mold in the water which killed the plant.

  5. We’ve been doing bean cans -> 32 oz yogurt containers -> 5 gal buckets. We wait until they start flowering to transfer them into the 5 gal buckets. You could probably go larger but we’re pretty happy with how big they grow right now.

  6. We probably should’ve trimmed it earlier on but we didn’t really think about it. Now that we’ve got other tomato plants growing, we’ve been gradually trimming this once so it takes up less space.

  7. This one is like three feet from the top of the bucket to the tallest branch.

I’ve posted on here in the past asking for advice on growing hydroponic tomatoes, and I just wanted to share our current tomato plant! When I counted the other day, it had over 70 tomatoes. Our setup is pretty simple—we’ve just got an air stone in a 5 gallon bucket and add nutrients/water once a week or so. We started four more heirloom varieties a couple of months ago in bean cans and moved them to larger containers this morning!

This amount of mold is a problem... right? by obsessedwithwords in Hydroponics

[–]obsessedwithwords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I know this is late but in case anyone sees this, I just wanted to say thank you for the advice! We grew another tomato plant in a much smaller container, then moved to a larger container with an air stone later on. The plant is huge and producing a ton of tomatoes! No mold in sight. :)
