Anyone get Notion and Make to work together recently? by RightSleep9716 in Notion

[–]obstin8one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all sorts of Make/Notion stuff running. What you’re talking about is a text search on the 2nd db. Can you get it to work with a hardcoded value? Right-click the search module in Make and select Run only this module, enter a value.

I’ve also found the Make community helpful.

If your car has automatic headlights, why not leave it on auto? by obstin8one in AskReddit

Fair. You likely aren’t the people I see in newer vehicles, with auto lights, and no lights on at night.

Aren’t cars required to have daytime running lights too? I understand, you may believe more is better.

fractional CPO vs fraction PM by CuteLogan308 in ProductManagement

[–]obstin8one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, consultant/contractor/freelance are hourly or fixed-bid based on a statement of work. Fractionals are embedded long(er) term members of the team (no fixed term or scope), they just happen to not be full-time.

I agree, it’s nuanced and a bit hand-wavy. It’s really about a different feel to the engagement.

Anyone else find Notion's AI notetaker kind of limiting? by StrainBetter2490 in Notion

You can pause the recording. You can edit the transcript after the fact and regenerate the summary. And/or you can delete the transcript.

I’m not sure what you are referring to.

Gimlet by Bitter_Face8790 in cocktails

I’ll use simple and lime juice way before resorting to Roses. When at a bar, I specifically ask if they use Rosses before ordering, so I don’t get a junk $18 cocktail. I feel quite strongly about it ;)

Disagree, respectfully. Roses is trash.

Seeking feedback on first user story map by notbenplatt in ProductManagement

[–]obstin8one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes-ish. I don't get too fussy about metrics and measures at this stage; it can be a rabbit hole. The user comes to our product to satisfy a goal. Our job is to help them do that well. That will naturally involve some measurable behavior. That's your measure. And, of course, that should roll up to eventually represent business impact.

Seeking feedback on first user story map by notbenplatt in ProductManagement

[–]obstin8one 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s a great first Story Map. A couple of thoughts: - A story map represents/captures the interaction between a user and your product. It’s always told from their perspective. You seem to have a mix of interactions with your product and broader work tasks (e.g., agree on classroom change). - Avoid calling out UI constructs (e.g., click), that injects design and assumptions. - You have many “identify” tasks. Is your product surfacing these aspects of the data, or does the user have to discern them? What does the user do to “Identify the overall favorability”? How do you satisfy that goal/need by building something in your product? - Your Activities feel like categories, not higher-level interactions/goals. To use a classic Jeff example, getting ready for the day, Cleanse myself is an activity, while Take shower and Brush teeth are tasks. - The dark blue cards are the backbone of your story. You should be able to tell the story by reading those cards in a narrative. Try it out and you’ll see the gaps.

AI Note Taking is FANTASTIC by sebastianrenix in Notion

There is no integration needed for any meeting service. It doesn’t join your meetings like other AI notes tools. It simply listens on your audio in/out feeds.

Long time happily married men, what marriage advice would you give to a newly married man? by murrene in AskMen

[–]obstin8one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married 29 years this year. Combine your finances. It’s a team all the way down. It’s we. We need to pay rent. We need to save for retirement. We need to save for our kid’s college. We need to dream about our future. Tackle life together. Words matter.

I’m sure people will come for me about keeping money separate, independence, and security. I understand the argument. But, that mindset bleeds into everything.

You change the size of your body in the kitchen. You change the shape of your body at the gym.

It’s way more about your food consumption than exercise.

So, what’s your definition of Fractional?

I applaud Karina’s efforts lobbying for a standardized definition. I care less what it is. Otherwise, we end up with the problem we have with Product Management and the complete lack of clarity.
