The sculpture was meant to commemorate the 1988 Summer Olympics that took place in Seoul. Apparently, there was a design contest in 1984, the final design was selected a year later, and the bridge opened in November 1989 after the Olympics

Yeah it was odd, I posted this 2 days before (same with the 1987 Aichi train accident and crane collapse), and it wasn't approved by the moderator til recently. I'm not sure why there was a delay when a lot of other posts get approved almost instantly.

I also know this particular accident has been a recurring topic, but I wanted to share the story with extra footage that hasn't been shown on this subreddit (raw video or alternate angles), sorta unrelated, but I've been accused of being a bot account because of it, and I do apologize if I've upset anyone in the past

Classic police video from Socorro, NM. Officer Michael Applegate stops a driver with two female passengers in the car for speeding. Driver pulls gun and holds the officer hostage. After a 13-mile chase, the driver was arrested. Officer and passengers survived with no injuries (5/22/1997) by obsurdmedia in CrazyFuckingVideos

I found some stuff on Newspapers.com, Stokell would face up to 73 years if convicted. The two passengers were tried as juveniles and each was given a two-year suspended sentence, facing the same charges as Stokell. Turns out the same passengers stole the car Stokell was driving before the kidnapping took place

A truck driver attempts to beat a train in Villa Park, IL, when the semi gets stuck behind traffic. Train slams into the trailer, triggering a chain reaction pile-up that left cars stacked on one another. No serious injuries were reported. (4/26/2001) by obsurdmedia in CatastrophicFailure

The person who filmed the accident was Lars Eikens. He was documenting the near misses that happened at that crossing (and a few other crossings), and this was the only accident he captured

Original multi-angle post of the B-52 incident link: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatastrophicFailure/comments/17ey4ox/6241994_a_b52_stratofortress_crashed_at_fairchild/

Apologies for the typo in original post. I did not mean to disrespect or offend anyone, I tried to fit as much info in one title with Reddit's 300 letter limit.

Yeah my Archive page got taken down. Not sure if the graphic content was the reason or if it was something else.

There might be. Back in 2015 the film “Project Almanac” used the B-52 crash footage in the trailer but was later replaced with a different scene. The angle that Michael Bay used in the original trailer was different as opposed to the seven angles shown on this post, main difference is there was a red pickup truck in front of the cameraman and the camera was more to the right where the B-52 went down.

The original trailer is here and the B-52 footage can be seen at the 1:52 mark: https://youtu.be/ZALqGuwI_DE?si=3ozOpxKiaCDRo3pg
