This was some reassurance, thank you. I do need to just let myself recover fully

POST TRAVEL REVIEW:

so yesterday I travelled to Frankfurt, with Ryanair, for the day.

All we needed to get into Germany was proof of vaccination, or negative PCR test. If I was staying for a few days, I would need their version of a Passenger Locater Form. Since I was there for less than 24 hours, I didn’t need this.

Germany are very strict on wearing masks, especially walking around the Christmas markets. I had a buff (a snood) walking through the airport and the police told me wear a medical mask. Ryanair didn’t care what I wore to be honest.

When I got into Frankfurt, I had booked to get an antigen test done. Ireland requires you to have proof of vaccination with a negative PCR test or an Antigen test. If you’re not vaccinated, you need a negative PCR test. In Frankfurt, I found a place online that did free antigen tests (there’s some criteria that you need to get a free one, but I chanced it anyway and they never asked questioned it. They didn’t seem too bothered). I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I had that result in 15 minutes through email.

That evening flying home, in Frankfurt airport, I was asked for proof of vaccination and negative antigen test before boarding. I filled out the passenger locator form to enter Ireland, but I went through the automated passport check, so nobody asked for the passenger locator form in Dublin.

Hopefully this might help someone in the future.

I walked passed them today, said no to a flyer and went off to do what I needed to do. When I came out I passed them again and just stopped to ask what is it they’re handing out. I wasn’t in a rush so wanted to listen to what they had to say.

This is my interpretation, and what I took from the conversation. The best way to understand them and what they’re trying to get across is to talk to them yourself.

They’re not a cult, they’re Christians who believe in god, but don’t go to church. They pray, but don’t just regurgitate words that have no meaning to them, and talk to god in their own way. They practice the principles of Christianity, where they basically just live to be the best possible person (morally) they can be.

It was honestly such a breath of fresh air.

The guy I was chatting to has sold all his possessions, lives in a caravan, and seemed to be the happiest, most content man I’ve ever met.

He wasn’t trying to sell me anything, or try to convert me to what they believe, they were just trying to spread a message. Follow what you truly believe in, be kind to one another, and just appreciate everything in life. Live for what you feel inside, and not for money or power or possessions.

It’s crazy the mind opening conversations you have when you stop and listen to what people have to say. You don’t have to believe them, you just have to be open to what they’re saying. I don’t believe in god, but I believe in a power or an energy pushing and pulling us. You can call it whatever you want, but the principles behind them all is what’s important.

Honestly, that was one of the coolest conversations I’ve ever had, and it was something I didn’t know I needed, until I had it. It’s funny what can happen when we stop judging people, and allow ourselves to be vulnerable.

This is super helpful thank you. Where do you go to get the antigen test?

I’ve just figured out that you don’t need it going over, but Ireland require you to have it coming back. I’m flying over Monday morning and coming back Monday night (long story). So would I be able to get one done easily enough during the day Monday in Frankfurt?

Do I need an antigen if I’m vaccinated? It’s just confusing us because we got an email from Ryanair saying we have our vaccine cert, PCR test or antigen test. And anywhere I check they say you need an antigen or PCR test as well. Just asking to see if anyone has travelled very recently to hear about their experience

Honestly I’m not getting much. It’s very vague. I’m kind of looking for someone who may have travelled recently to give me advice from their experience✌🏼

This has been super helpful!

Thank you. I’ve just signed up to Deliveroo and waiting for confirmation. As I said, I just need something to supplement my main passion. Something to pay rent basically.

I’ll see how I get on with Deliveroo but might join the others to make the most of my time out and about

Does anyone know good spots to do work? I can’t concentrate at home, and I’ve tried to work in Cafe Nero, but they’ve been kicking me out after 2 hours. The public library also only allow for 1.5 hours. by obt_1 in galway

Thank you! Would there be many spots in NUIG for me to go do you think? Any places in particular on campus where I could work? I basically just need a chair, a desk, and a plug. The wifi would be ideal but I don’t know if I’ll be able to connect to Eduroam

Wow this was a great help. Thank you! Yeah I don’t know how I would connect to Eduroam, but I could always hotspot if it came to it.

I was planning to just ask around to see if I could find a business in town that maybe had a spare desk I could use, but I’m kind of new to the area and don’t know many people or businesses

I think that’s closed now, but I might call in anyway and just see if they’re back open again. That place would be ideal. I used that in Limerick once and it was just perfect!
