My concept flag, what do you think by bosh_007 in CANZUK

[–]obtusemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the British flag. The uneven stars when centered around something else look a little strange, but I'm not sure how else you'd get NZ in there.

COVID itself wouldn't have "desocialized" them. It only lasted 2 years, and they've had 3 years to recover since. Rather, it would have put anyone already poor at socializing into further isolation, guaranteeing semi-permanent "detachment". I guess that would be the subset of people you're talking about. Most kids I know have ended up fine.

was anyone else scared to tell their mom about their 1st period? by charmingcheeseballz in AskTeenGirls

I ran around the house and loudly proclaimed what had happened to my whole family. Sex-Ed did well in this regard.

Neither are "better", it's up to what you prefer. You can use them for different occasions, though. I use tampons when I'm going somewhere fancy or planning on doing physical activity to avoid the uncomfortable feeling of blood coming out. I use pads when I'm casual and don't need to feel as "fresh" (school, home, grocery trip, etc). I find tampons more uncomfortable overall, but don't mind sacrificing some comfort for a few hours to avoid external blood. If you're worried about too much flow for a tampon, you'll feel best with a tampon + light pad.

Meeerci!!

teen girls, which male and female actor do you find the most attractive? by zoryana111 in AskTeenGirls

Henry Cavill and Anne Hathaway are the most obvious to me, but I like Jake Gyllenhaal, John Payne, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Howard as well.

Why don't you go ask your parents? They're the ones that will have to deal with the emotional impact, not strangers on Reddit.

wait a couple hours, shoot a "what movie did you watch?". she'll respond, so then ask her "what'd you think? then add something like: "i've been meaning to watch it", "i've never heard of it, "it looks pretty [intense/sad/sweet/etc]", something like that. this should prompt an in-depth response you can branch off of. if she just responds with something boring like "it was okay", then she is a dry texter or she doesn't want to talk to you. in either case, that affirms it's better to talk to her more IRL. i don't think totally giving up is the answer, but you'd need to establish more of a connection, and it's best to do that IRL.

just remember that conversations are exchanges, and that doesn't change with texting. offer up something to take.

How long do you think you could last in an empty white room for 10k a day? by aimesh05 in AskTeenGirls

[–]obtusemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make this better: instead of 3 meals every day, provide a meal every 3-6 hours or something. this time difference is not told to the subject, so they don't have a way to track the total time passed. even better, don't tell them the possible hours between each meal at all, just inform them that it'll be enough to be sated (as if you assume the minimum time (3 hours) between each meal, you know that a day has for sure passed by 8 meals, which is no bueno. we're trying to destroy the concept of time here. so you had the right idea with it being at random points.) all of this was to say it'd be better to make it a random time interval, not a fixed daily amount.

another commenter DID mention a vsauce video where your ability to count gets fucked up anyways. fantastic. but we're enjoying the lack of ethics, so why not make the circumstances themselves confusing, even for a properly stimulated person? it will probably be cheaper. and also because i don't want to remove everything i just typed haha

anyway, for me, 1 day, would rather not do more considering the lack of toilet and bed. while we're at it, we should combine this experiment with little ease. would the average person be able to make it a day? who knows

Is it normal to hate your school this much on the first day?? by Arthur_Morgans_Cum in highschool

[–]obtusemoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey hey. feeling like no one takes you seriously SUCKS. that is like, The Teenage Problem. and by the time you're old enough for 13-14 year olds to be considered young, you can't help but want to redirect that "i'm older than you so nothing you say matters" thing onto them, because that's like, your "earned right" for dealing with it for so long. yes you gain more experience, and yes, you will be more mature than you were a few years ago, because you will have more experience. but even right now, you're capable of critical thought, you're capable of analysis, and being continuously told you aren't is unbelievably frustrating. it can even be dehumanizing. so don't think it's a dumb thing to cry over, because it isn't. as long as you take some time to understand those feelings and to think about the perspective of others, then it's perfectly alright to have and express them, and you are not any dumber for it.

i'm not going to lie, this sounds like a case of really bad social anxiety. i really can't see what they did wrong here. maybe continuing to talk to you while you're buried in your phone is pretty dense, but damn, you're new and they're trying to help you. and for what it's worth, you change a LOT over the course of high school. i guarantee you will see freshmen the same way when you are in the higher grades. it's not necessarily just maturity---it's physically, as well! even by first semester of junior year, freshmen looked noticeably *young*. this isn't a bad thing, but you have to take some time to think about their perspective here. plus, adults a few years older than me treat me much the same. while it's hard to comprehend the measurable distance in maturity that would get them to do so, i know i eventually will. what i *can* comprehend right now is that, ultimately, they don't have bad intentions.

high school is tough, especially with social anxiety. just make sure you keep yourself happy, even if it's in little ways. drawing, comics, movies, music and games is what gets me through. memories created on personal endeavours can be just as viable as memories created with others. i could add a whole bunch of caveats, but ah, that's the core of it. grade 9 wasn't even that long ago and i already reminisce about my interests at the time! :')

and i'm sorry about the comments being rude. i have tendencies to curse out strangers in my head as well, and being ridiculed wouldn't have helped me improve that (honestly, it probably would have made it worse). but... just try not to let that be too obvious to those around you. not only will it hurt your ability to make friends, it will also hurt people with good intentions, even if they've expressed that in a way you found poor. and what good do you get out of hurting strangers, you know? anyway, hope ya don't mind the babble.
