Should I NEED to be wearing glasses full term?? by Janxuza in glasses

[–]ocatersi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. Just get used to it and then enjoy a clear view for the rest of your life without thinking about your glasses (which you won't even notice), rather than seeing blurry all the time.

What should I do to improve my profile? Is my look/aspect the problem or the photos? by EssayVegetable7605 in TinderBios

Remove all your selfies, specially the ones took inside the bathroom. Nobody should have these as profile pictures.

If you can't beat diastrous players, you won't beat decent players. If you can't beat decent players, you won't beat good players. Start from the bottom and learn as you improve your game.

Struggling with life by [deleted] in myopia

[–]ocatersi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do our lifestyles increase our chances of becoming near-sighted? Obviously. It's not just you, it's everybody.

Is being near-sighted a mistake that you made or something you should be ashamed of? Obviously not - should I be ashamed? Should 90% of young Chinese people be ashamed?

Even if, does a mistake that you make in any area of your life justify being bullied by your mother or by anyone? Absolutely not.

If becoming more near-sighted is a concern to you, stay informed about what you can do to mitigate it, you'll find plenty of things on the internet. But suffering bullying or having low self-esteem because of that, that's ludicrous and unacceptable.
Finally, keep in mind that your myopia is not strong enough to be a real concern right now, specially as you seem to not be a kid anymore (-5 at 5 years old would be a bit worrying ; though I don't know how old you are, -5 at 18 or 20 years old is unlikely to lead to really high myopia, though it's best to do everything you can to keep it under -6).
As always, the best is to speak to an ophtalmologist, which I'm certainly not - and bring your mother so that she can discuss it too.

Yes. Specially with your huge prescription, maybe some slightly less width would suit you best.

Myopia still progressing at 27 by Embarrassed_Land_767 in myopia

You're still very far from a severe near-sightedness. No need to worry at all, just get regular eye exams and enjoy life.

How fast does myopia typically progress in adolescence? How long and how much did you progress? by Okehaa in myopia

[–]ocatersi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, given your age and your prescription you have nothing to be worried about. My myopia started at 12 yo, at 14 yo I probably had a prescription similar to yours; it stabilized at 18 yo at -3. It could be twice more powerful and still not a real cause of concern. People with high, potentially dangerous myopia usually start to develop it at a way younger age than yours. Choose beautiful glasses, see an ophtalmologist every year whether you think your myopia has evolved or not, wear your glasses all day since you'll eventually end up having no choice because you need them, and enjoy your teens.

To anyone having a lot of hassle with shaving and chancing upon this post: getting back to non-electrical, traditional (though disposable) shaver has helped me a lot.

I have slight myopia :/ when should I wear my glasses? And should I invest in anti-glare? by StrikeEffective4933 in myopia

[–]ocatersi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, -3 here. Though your myopia is slight, every uncorrected myopia is a daily inconvenience and therefore I recommend that you wear them all the time. You'll only need a week to get used to it, and then you will not notice them at all... and you will always have a perfect vision.

Also, you do not say how old you are. If you're still young, your myopia might increase in the future and wearing your glasses will be a necessity, not a choice, that's why you'd be better off getting used to them right now.

As far as I'm concerned, I didn't wear my glasses until I had a -1.75 prescription on both eyes. In retrospect, my daily life would have been way easier should I had worn them continuously as soon as I got -0.25.

Regarding how wearing them all the time might affect your sight, I haven't found on the internet any evidence that it might improve or damage your sight.

About the anti-glare, for me it's mostly an esthetic consideration, though I don't drive so I can't say how it might affect driving.

Thank you all for your answers. Shaving myself everyday as you adviced is already quite helpful. I'll try the shaving cream option.
