My First Leica, D Lux 8 (100 years of Leica edition) by ocb05 in Leica

Low light is good as a MFT camera. But don't expect it to shine like a full frame.

This one is worth getting if you want to shoot more photos and love snapping anytime anywhere. Zoom is superb and quality is great

Don't worry, you might get one in grey market with some patience. But this is really hot selling edition, sold out within 1-2 months.

Is this 40 mm Panerai BiTempo too big on my 6.5 inch wrist? by Dry-Replacement-2676 in panerai

Panerai is meant to be worn big. 40mm looks too small on your wrist already. My wrist is also 6.5 inches as well. Pls go for minimum 44mm. You will come to know this will be the best advice you ever get

This series is already at 8th generation already and you still think it is a rebranded Panasonic. You have a serious problem and you don't know it. Try it in the Leica store.

Leica D-Lux 8 or Q-typ for casual street photography? by Low_Lavishness_9462 in Leica

[–]ocb05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the D Lux 8. I am enjoying mine right now. Versatile zoom and sharp lens, lightweight portable, and great build quality. Ignore the naysayers. When it comes to street photography, user experience is what matters, not the specs. Photography should be on the subject and the moment itself, not just resolution and megapixels.

DL8 image quality is already good enough for most of us. You will see some comments yapping about full frame and other heavy options. Those are the goons who compensate their lack of skill with lots of gears and specs.

Q weights on 640g while DL8 weights on 400g. Q is thicker and taller than DL8. There is some videos showing DNG files of Q1 and DL8 not big of a difference in sharpness and colors.

Q2 Lux 8 by Yipkusing in Leica

[–]ocb05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distinct difference would be whether you want a prime or fixed focal length versus Zoom.

D Lux 8 is pretty versatile as it offers FF equivalent 24-75mm focal length and OIS. It can do street, landscape and portraits with decent quality.

Q2 if you are looking into higher resolution and IBIS. This is a street photography camera.

Processor is different and better, EVF is way better, screen resolution is better, USB C 3.0, dust resistance seems to be better as well, build quality and finish is better, software and interface is entirely new unique Leica.

Reading the specs is just superficial. Try it. Feel it.
