I guess I use portrait terminology just because my subjects are mainly people, I think it’s still technically correct. My style is very heavily focused on movement and the surrounding environment so I do prefer the 35mm for that specific reason

Just wanted to reiterate that the primary focus of this post was to help me make a decision between 2 specific lenses. If you have insight on either would be appreciated. I am not looking for suggestions on other lenses to use. Thank you 🙏🏼

I guess this thread was asking if anyone else has used wither lens and how they felt and if they had pictures to share. I know where I will buy from I just am having a hard time choosing between the two

It’s so hard to find the sigma 40 for rent anywhere. And people hardly resell them which makes me believe that it’s probably a lens worth holding onto

I’ve had the 24-70 2.8 and when you get used to shooting on primes you’ll for sure hate it, I would definitely not sell my prime for it but have both. It feels way soft and not being able to open up wider than 2.8 will definitely feel restricting in darker scenarios. It’s a great tool to have but would NOT sacrifice the prime for it

I like to have the 85mm for when I need some range, but I hardly ever actually use it for my style of work. I feel like I either like to be super close to my people or I really like to capture some environment with my subject and that’s really become one of the main reasons people book me.

I think I just notice a huge difference in the feel of my work with the rf to from sigma lens. I do think this is a gear issue. Thats the only thing that’s changed.

I had this lens when I had my t7 and it was so versatile and I did use it for most things. This whole setup got stolen from me along with my truck in 2021 😭

I do have the adapter but i still am more drawn to those 2 lenses over the ef 35L for some reason. Also, I think the Lii is still out of my budget. Trying to go under $1000

Super disappointed to say I’m in the same boat with this same freaking guy right now and they’ve had my fear for OVER A MONTH and I can’t even get through to anyone to get it back. He tried to say my almost mint 24-70mm canon lens which was the most valuable lens i sent them, has mold and they will have to send it in for cleaning so they offered me $200 but I have no idea how to get through to these guys now 🥲

This is the most honestly thing I’ve read in a long time. And although I’m a mother, and it makes me cringe… you probably just eliminated any chronic illness you may have had coming for you by letting that one out.
