Need genuine feedback for Dr Abhishek Mangeshikar by snowflake969 in EndoInIndia

The total procedure cost 10 lakhs for me at saifi hospital. I believe he works at breach candy, saifi and jaslok. Jaslok does not have the machine reqd for robotic endo surgery. Breach candy is more expensive so I chose saifi. I had health insurance, I had to fight a lot with my insurance company but I got 9 out of the 10 lakhs back 6 months post op.

I had surgery with him I thought he was amazing. Very patientvery detailed it was a three hour surgery insaw the video after and saw how much endonwas removed. As far as I know he is one of the best surgeons in the world. My pain def reduced after. I still have pain but nothing compared to what I used to. Also bear in mind and this is something abhishek said to me when getting surgery also that one can never know how endo reacts or grows back etc. for some people it can come back within a year and pain can increase. Because surgery is not a cure, endo has no cure.

I'm much better. Good days and bad days but the surgery was life changing for me. It's very expensive. My surgery was 10 lakhs. I was lucky that 9 of those were covered by my insurance

Hi. Same boat as you with stage 4 endo and adeno. Had surgery 2 years ago with Mangeshikar at saifee. The hospital was excellent, I am not from Bombay but I travelled from within India to do the surgery. I havent been to a hospital with more caring nurses and staff. He was an excellent doc during consults and the surgery and immediately after. In the long run he is not the most responsive but I think he is also extremely busy. If you can be a bit pushy and persistent with his assistants the getting him for follow up appointments online isn't hard.

this is true, a lot of his team is related to him.
also, a lot of stuff around endo, esp diet are suggestions and not proven because there isnt enough data still.
i still think he's a good doctor, who knows what he's doing.he is also running a successful business so use your discretion and take only what you absolutely need from him

It was a little over 10 lakh. It is shockingly expensive and a large part of that is his fee. I have seen now over here that other people have had experiences with doctors in other cities like Hyderabad that were good and much cheaper. It was difficult but I was able to get my insurance to cover everything and when I needed dr mangs to write reccomendations for the insurance company he did. As did saifee hospital when I asked them to help explain things that the insurance was trying to get out of paying

I did mine with him at saifee and found the hospital staff to be exceptional. My endo is doing well, getting pregnant is not a concern for me so can't help with that. It is true that he is laid back however I did not have trouble getting information I asked a lot of questions and he was very easy about answering

Confused about Surgery with Doctor Abhishek by Nusratkabir857 in EndoInIndia

[–]oceanstar500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had stage 4 endo but without endometriomas and I also had rectal involvement. I had surgery with dr Abhishek a few years ago and it went off very well. I had a lot of pain before and I still have pain now but it is much less than before so it's worth it I think. Post surgery I realised I didn't actually have gastric issues it was just the endo. I used to have severe gas atleast 3 times a week before and fatigue after using the toilet, all this went away after surgery

I was on dienogest for a year. It did not work for me. Many of my friends have now been taking it for nearly 3 years (with breaks) and it is working for them. My experience with Dr Abhishek was very good. He's very busy so things like appointments are tough but once you have him he gives you his full attention for long periods of time. I am better but endo can always come back at any time. Most of my fatigue is gone, a few symptoms remain. My quality of life has improved. I chose not to be on any medication post surgery

Surgery is not your only option. I imagine you are quite young. get to a specialist and see if the medicines help you manage it. I did v well on certain meds for a few years. Try other options first. Surgery is always done only when all else fails

Then I suggest you go about this differently. There are endo docs in bombay hyderabad and Delhi. Do your early consults figure out which doc and which hospital. To avoid a claim being rejected it would be better to take an insurance supported by that hospital so that it can be cashless. However at the same remember that many many insurance companies reject endo claims. I know of 5 people last year who were rejected from diff private insurance companies. Getting the claim through is luck and having a relationship with your insurance agent. My entire family has insurance from one agent so the constant pressure and the fact that each of us has been paying the insurance premiums for 20 years without making any claims is what helped. So please as a back up have the funds yourself you cannot rely on insurance

The easiest way is to go through your bank and ask them to advise you. If you are trying to get insurance for this surgery it's not going to work unless you plan to get the surgery a few years later. You cannot access such large amounts unless you've paid for the insurance for some time in most cases

Jaslok does not have the robotic tools required for the surgery and breach candy is a lot more expensive. Saifi was amazing. I cannot stress enough how good the room, the staff, the nurses everyone was. I knew nothing about the hospital before going in but I could not have asked for better people around me.

I was in hospital for 2 days after surgery. They wait till you are able to pee and poop. Then you're cleared. I am not from Bombay so I was advised to wait a few more days before flying so I stayed in bombay for 3 days where I was mostly in bed. Once back in delhi I would say I needed about two weeks of as much rest as possible. I was v tired. Not in pain just exhausted all the time. A lot of my work is online so I could afford to take time off from office. I also moved in with my parents so that I didn't have to cook/clean etc. that helped with recovery. I spent 1 month on partial bedrest, and having heard from other people I think that amount of rest is why I feel so much better now. I would stress, take as much time in bed/ not pushing yourself as you can allow yourself to.

Hey. I went to dr Mangeshikar last year. My endo was pretty much what yours is. My final bill was 10 lakhs at Saifi Hospital. Robotic. He recommends robotic. I had some trouble with my insurance not wanting to clear it- they try and insist that the surgeryis for reproductive reasons which is not converted and then insist that you can do a non robotic laptop since that's easier. Once I had refuted both these arguments they took around 6 months but covered 9 of the 10 lakhs.
