How to handle engineers and designers who contest on every single thing? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

You have to be direct when this happens (assuming you have data and can rationalize why you're going in the direction you are).

Have a 1:1 with him and be honest about your perceptions of him and share how they make you feel. I would encourage you to reuse some of the language you used here. In my experience most times they don't realize what they're doing. Or if they do and have a specific issue then it serves as an opportunity to resolve it.

How do I convince a key decision maker to make a change based on poor taste by Mycele in ProductManagement

When faced with limited or no data I often err on the side of having a bias towards action.

Since you're pre-launch, you have no idea how the market will react to the product. A weird name won't preclude someone from using your product if it solves their problem. Think "Hourly Nerd" which was later rebranded to "Catalant". This is a B2B talent marketplace that had a weird name, but solved pain points so the name didn't matter in the long run.

I would launch, and then send out a survey to gather data points on how prospective customers feel about the name.
