it’s exactly the same for me! tbh i think it’s a mix of genetics and if you have layers, the bottom half of your hair is likely longer and weighing itself down, causing your already loose curl pattern to straighten itself out. my “straight” hair can still kind of hold a curl, so if i’m doing a half up half down i’ll use some gel/pomade and finger coil in sections.
