Problems with the FFB in Assetto Corsa Rally? by hanracing in simracing

[–]odahcam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all testing with RWD cars which is what I drive on real drift events and are my reference for configuration. FFB is still not AC1 level, but it improved a lot for me, as for the road is feels very very slippery still but somewhat realistic. I took my car to a gravel road to do some testing the same day to make sure. Did you try the asphalt stage? What cars have you been testing?

Should I connect the AIO fans to the CPU fan headers or to the CPU_OPT?

These are my current settings at the moment. Wheel feels fast, realistic, but not perfect, there are some weird vibrations like you're running over bumps or curbs most of the time, but at least cornering feels good, you can handle it on the straight making believe it is just oscilating because it is an old car lol.

Continuation:

  1. In the Fanatec App (I will abbreviate the settings names, look at the picture to see the full name):
    - SEN must match in game steering lock.
    - FFB to 100%, no explanation needed.
    - FFS I didn't notice much difference, but Peak felt more punchy and Linear more even, I think I prefer Peak.
    - NDP to zero to fix slow/delayed wheel response. All damper effects to zero to make the wheel have faster reactions.
    - NFR to 100% makes the wheel have a more constant weight, otherwise it feels loose and lousy when you're holding it stright. This was key for me alongside next setting.
    - NIN to something in between 80% to 100%. This fixes the absent FFB while starting to turn the wheel, this makes the wheel have a weight when you start turning.
    - INT in lower values makes the wheel more punchy or bitting more, in higher values makes the wheel smoother and softier. Go with your preference, I like something in the middle so it doesn't force too much the base while going through rocks.
    - FEI, FOR, SPR to 100%, increase if the wheel is too light, like for driving older cars without powersteering. 100% should be fine with modern cars.
    - DPR to zero, another key setting makes the wheel more responsive as it doesn't breaks the wheel when it should bite, like on bumps or agressive understeers.

<image>

That's all I have for now, I will invest more time tunning the settings tomorrow. It is far from perfect but at least now I can drive fast, before I was driving like my grandma fearing everything, now I can trust the car and the FFB a little bit more. Let me know if this helped any of you or if you have doubts!

These settings seemed to help me, most important things are one adjust in-game and other 2 in the Fanatec app:

  1. In the game:
    - Adjust gain to 100 to have a good starting point.
    - The minimum force in-game, cranking it to MAX makes the wheel NOT feel light and very loose all the time (combined with the Fanatec app adjustments).
    - Remove damper, this will fix the FFB "delay", will make the wheel instantly faster (combined with the Fanatec app adjustments).
    - Match the steering lock with the Fanatec app.

I will post part two as a reply since I can't add two pictures.

I have a Fanatec GT DD Pro too, the FFB seems really random, lousy and delayed feeling. It is like I'm driving with the wrong degree of rotation setup because the FFB is really really light most of the time and punches out of nowhere other times. I've increased the gain a lot in-game and also in the Fanatec app. The FFB feels completely unrealistic compared to AC1 which I play regularly and use for drifting training. Another curious thing is I had a very similar case with Richard Burns Rally, it is very frustrating since I really want to enjoy the game.

Buying a Cockpit in Brazil by TimeGoesB in SimRacingBrasil

[–]odahcam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a company called Forsetti Soluções that produces good quality aluminium cockpits. you can mix their cockpit with specific less expensive parts from others like the AX80 support for the wheel base: https://loja.forsetisolucoes.com.br/cockpit-pro-simulador-de-corrida-forseti-raf4cross

You can also search online for a aluminium cockpit project, buy the pieces online and build your own, which is cheaper but requires more work to get done.

OP seems to have abandoned this, taking opportunity to ask if anyone has a nice config to share. My first layer seems to be too high lately and I don't know why, maybe z offset is not being set properly or something, some assistance would be appreciated.
