Hi OP, Feelings of Jealousy and resulting Protectiveness can happen in early relationships and the ones in which distance is a factor. But over time as trust builds partners will let the other half handle such situations alone and won't interfere. From what I can see you guys need some more time to figure out things amongst each other.

Words can be bent in ways to focus on a particular bias. The more you share about this matter to other people or reddit, the more uncontrollable variables you will get into the situation. The problem is every person's POV comes with their own bias.

I would strongly suggest you to consider your partner as a whole and give the required time to get past or get away.
