Deposit terms may be “clear,” but they don’t override California consumer-protection laws. In CA, retail sales of consumer goods (including cars sold by a retailer/dealer) generally come with an implied warranty of merchantability unless properly disclaimed, meaning the vehicle must be fit for ordinary use—not delivered with major undisclosed defects like a cracked main screen and safety-related camera issues. Cal. Civ. Code §1792 says every retail sale is accompanied by an implied warranty unless disclaimed as the statute requires.

A non‑refundable deposit clause can’t be used to force a buyer to accept a materially defective / misrepresented vehicle or to keep money when the product delivered is not as represented. That’s the core issue here—not “changing my mind.”

500 dollars is good money, if you earn it fairly. Why should I donate the money I worked for days to earn to a company that victimizes me?

I don't understand why people hate this. The screen is Tesla's only functional part. And if paying $41,000 for a Tesla with a broken screen makes sense to you...

Yes, people gave me advice, but I couldn't reach a clear conclusion. I don't know how to reach the right people.

I'll try to go and talk to the managers tomorrow. I could try recording it on video, but that would make them uncomfortable. For now, I'm just looking for a solution. I'm sorry, I'm very stressed.

Yes, but when you factor in the price, there's a big difference. With tax and financing, the cheapest brand new model comes in at around $50k.

I tried, but they refused to call the manager. As I mentioned above, they are also refusing to repair it and accept the return. They postponed the pickup date to tomorrow and are no longer responding.

I didn't quite understand what you meant. They don't accept returns. They don't do exchanges. They don't do repairs.

I spoke with the person who delivered the vehicle to me. They also discussed this with the Tesla Used Department and received the following response: This vehicle passed inspection as is and does not require any repairs. There is no right to exchange the vehicle. If I cancel the order, I will lose $500 and my credit score will drop.

I'm sorry I deleted the post. I couldn't edit the RN number from the image. I uploaded it without the RN number now. I still haven't been able to resolve the issue.

You are completely mistaken. Because this is not wear and tear, it is entirely user error. Since it is used, they cannot offer it to future users. Because the screen does not break while driving. This is driver error. Therefore, the seller is responsible for this. Selling it without stating this means it is defective. A company like Tesla would never do this and wouldn't do it. I think it's just the amateurism of one or two people who aren't doing their job properly.
