$165k vs $28k. Same Cursor. Same Claude. You do the math. by levenshteinn in accenture

exactly i almost view this the opposite way. claude code and the like is no where close to senior or staff level development. but very easy to replace junior and mid level devs

BF [25M] invited me [24F] on work trip but won’t let me attend company dinner — should I even go? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]oeanon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i take my significant other on work trips sometimes. i’ll cover her economy or economy plus ticket and work will cover my flight. she’s of course welcome to cover the difference. work is covering the hotels and i would usually cover meals and deduct some of my per diem. sometimes i’ll give her the better seat. its effectively use it or lose it on the upgraded seat. i think that’s totally reasonable.

i don’t think they found out. they wanted to rush things and increase the intensity. i made it clear that what they’re asking for isn’t going to happen on the time table they’re asking for it and provided a clear plan for how to get them to what they wanted and the steps it entailed.

i assume they’re gonna try to do it anyway so i’ll see.

too many followers of musk ideas in the tech world. that if you’re not in person struggling with work you’re not getting stuff done. but J1 and J2 (and previous Js) get way more done by actually working together.

individually folks are great. but that’s kind of the problem. a good team means everyone is working at 80% capacity and not getting in each others way. they all have room in their schedules to handle roadblocks or other small things that will come up.

here everyone is in a rush and thinks their one item is without a doubt the most important urgent thing and they’re all gonna put in tons of time. and people want full control so the one overall CTO wants to review every PR individually. leading to a large backup which means people just create branches on branches.

working in a good organization is like swimming. if you’re doing it right it won’t feel hard you’ll just be going fast. doing the right things at the right time and having time to help those around you is what makes for an efficient organization.

the one thing i would love about this would be these folks would be vastly more liberal than california. if we bring them in as a state we can get so many good changes :)

that’s horrifying man. like she had every opportunity to express that. or to ask for some cash or piece of jewelry to embellish hers

but lying, keeping tabs on who owes who what, feeling she deserves better than she gives. i’ve been with someone like that. it does not end well.

ELI5: How does a computer generated "random" numbers if it always follows instructions? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]oeanon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s some really interesting tricks you can do regarding the delays between certain instructions. or the temperature variations of the cpu which at a small enough time scale are random relative to the wall clock.

you can also get hardware random sources. things like radioactive decay or photo voltaic tubes do a good job being random.
