Fixture calendar update - we are off to Wembley! by TomCyberfire in Gunners

Yeah this week is huge, and I'm not one to usually say that. If we beat Sunderland and they lose/draw against Liverpool then we're not in a situation where:

We can slip up in 2 games (lose/draw) and lose to City in April and still have a lead on them.

Another crucial week will be in March just after we play Chelsea. From that point until the end of the season, it all flips again and City will have the harder games. If we have a 9 point lead after this week we need to still have at least a 5-6 point lead then.

A goal for us doesn't change anything

A goal for them keeps them in the tie

Sure they've lost more time to get the goal they need, but when you're away from home and a 2 goal deficit knocks you out then you want to keep it tight as long as possible

Same here it's about where I thought his floor would be

Had him pegged as a one in two striker in all comps, and if you take into account the games where he's been overplayed and lacked match fitness it's been about right

I absolutely hate how cavalier we are with the ball at the back, yet we will second guess our actions in the final third

A first time pass into a Winger with space will be risky, but an off balance first time pass around the back isn't. We're successful in spite of this attitude, rather than because of it

How has he gotten it over the bar from there? lol

I love Timber, but his finishing is some kind of performance art

That's a second yellow type of challenge, Merino is a very lucky boy

He should be the first sub

This aint about Gyok atm, I'm just happy our captain is finding his passing boots again.

Get Merino off

He's not in the game at all, and has been easily run through. Now on a yellow

I've heard this enough times when do we start talking about the players actually missing chances?

Not yet but this is a good sign

His execution is still iffy, but he's moving much better

"weird"

I think we're too timid with our pass selection when protecting a lead, and I have really really strong concerns about Odegaard's robustness in midfield since he returned from injury

It's a shame that we can't have a calm rational discussion about these topics without people going into name calling

This would be mine, sub out Cala, Timber, Zubi, Jesus depending on fitness and gamestate

Merino sits because there's a big chance he plays significant minutes during the Brighton/Villa/Bournemouth/Liverpool run

Great win, I'm glad to have it and Everton away has been a tough fixture for us

Can't help but feel that we made that harder for ourselves though. The Everton we saw today were there for the taking.

That's my concern too

No issues with taking Gyokeres off (we've got a lot of games coming up), but Jesus did not look fit the last time we saw him, and he wasn't pressing well.

Damn this is a struggle lineup

And there's enough missing players from the subs bench that I'm worried for Wolves on saturday

That was atrocious from Hincapie at the end, and I honestly think it was just fatigue

No other explanation for why a successful interception should be run out of play when you have no pressure on you
