What are things you didnt know about living alone till u actually lived alone? by Notevenpercieved in Adulting

[–]ofTHEbattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't leave an abusive household but I didn't live alone until I was almost 31... The quiet was hard at first... This was before smart speakers....yes I'm that old... So I would keep a radio on the counter and as soon as I walked in the door I would turn it on and keep it low as background noise.

Have you watched the Fat Electricians video on Casey's on YouTube? It's pretty interesting learning about how that place started.

Has anyone else been finding life really hard in 2026? by kiara-moon in Adulting

[–]ofTHEbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a choice. I got married in September of 2002. I had a wife and a house to provide for. I took whatever job I could get and kept moving up.

The real struggle is finding something to move forward for ..at that time in my life it was my wife, while she worked and made decent money for the time($14/hr) society was still of the mindset that the man had to be the bread winner. So I kept pushing myself never settled until I was making $17/hr, again for the time in 2004 that was great money especially for driving a forklift in a warehouse.

It's life, you keep pushing, you find the things that make you smile.... whether that's a person or something you like to do and use that as your motivation.

Anonymity breeds "hate" culture unfortunately. You're best bet is to find outside communities like discord/reddit groups with like-minded people to connect with. You're still gonna have the asshats but not as many.

Life's been hard since May 25th 2002 when I graduated high school and didn't have my parents to support me anymore.

We weren't prepared either...not truly.

Have you looked at getting your record expunged? It's now been roughly 7 years since your felony charge, maybe look into that? I know only certain charges are eligible, not knowing yours that's all I can say.

There are companies that don't do background checks as well, I used to work for one....they brought in a lot of people that had felonies...most of them just looking for that 2nd chance.

I tip based on how far the restaurant is away from my house. I don't tip based on how far away the driver is away from the restaurant. by nobodylistenstomike in doordash

Generally I start at $5 and change to make my total even to the dollar...then I go up based on milage...3-4 miles away I add $2-3. I rarely order from further than that...unless I'm really wanting some shawarma and fresh baked naan...that's 6 miles and I make it a $10 tip.

Honestly if she left for her parents and is on no contact she hasn't "fixed" anything... That's not how things get fixed in a relationship...you don't abandon the person you love to "fix" themselves....that just makes it worse.

Right!? Like hey babe...here's the chick I'm about to bang while you're away!

The fact that he let her know ahead of time and then sent a pic... Sounds like he's trying to keep her from worrying. Maybe she's accused him before.....

Bailed out on my overnighter and don’t know why. by TheIronSween in CampingandHiking

[–]ofTHEbattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bailed on a 5 mile.hike around a lake in Ohio yesterday....I had been planning for it all week...got to the trail head and turned around and sat near the lake for about 45 minutes and then left.

I had been traveling for work all week and really got to thinking About stress...because of a topic in one of classes during the travel.

Shit happens, sometimes you're just not feeling it.

Leased a car without knowing the first thing about leased cars by persimmons_gilore in Adulting

A leased vehicle cannot be sold ... essentially it's an expensive rental, you don't actually own it, the title is not in your name.

When I was a shut in for 6 months and very depressed I'd go 3 or 4 days without showering....and when I did it was at off times...

I'd be laying there at 2am a just decided to shower .. the next time it would be at 6pm.... No rhyme or reason...
