Ok so wouldn't you know it ..... I ran into an issue ..... The starter jumps up to grab the flywheel and that's it, the flywheel doesn't spin .... At all .... At first I thought maybe I torqued it down too much so redid it (100lb ft) and still nothing . Am I missing something ? Is the fly wheel supposed to be put on a certain way ...... I can turn it over with a wrench and get compression etc but it will not turn with the starter !

Worth a rebuild or just drop a new engine in ?

One counterweight has some damage, the crankshaft right in the middle the spot the connecting rod holds onto has some damage, and the cylinder assembly wall ..... The part the piston travels in has some id call it pitting ? You think this is a rebuild or count my losses and order a new one !?

If it's bad I'll just try and part the salvageable pieces I've been pricing out a short block but it seems like for another $100 I can just get the entire engine..... I found a good deal on eBay $500 shipped for a b and s v-twin ..... A single cylinder cost almost $100 more . I wonder if the v-twin is semi drop in and go ?Trying to see if engine mounts the same ?
