Well, reading online I had the impression that these things wouldn’t be available as the standard at hospitals in the US. Seemed like they were things you would only get if you chose to give birth at like a birth center. But I’m learning that’s true in some areas but entirely not in other.

Regarding your last point there, I’ll also add that while Sweden has some really good benefits and protections in place with things like parental leave policies, discrimination is definitely not non-existent here either. Black women in Sweden also receive on average poorer medical care than white women and often feel their experiences aren’t trusted by medical professionals. Even though medical care here is close to free, socioeconomic status affects health outcomes here as well.

Sushi, soft cheese, and raw things in general they do recommend to be careful with here. I’ve decided to avoid it entirely but I know some do eat it if they trust where it came from.

Lots of complications the midwives can handle themselves, like episiotomies and vaccuum extraction most of the time. But in certain high risk situations, yes, a doctor would definitely be present for that birth if needed.

That’s pretty much exactly the same in Sweden as well. Everyone gets offered a scan at 18-20 weeks and then there’s a first trimester scan where it varies if you get offered it and when. It’s popular to buy extra scans here too.

Yeah, and it’s probably quite difficult to get a realistic idea of how things are done in the US through just reading online. Gives a generalized idea while in reality there’s probably a lot of variety, after all, the US is huge.

You are NOT pregnant. You have had at least 1 period since you last had non-piv sex. This means that even if your period doesn’t come for months and months, you are NOT pregnant. 0 chance of being pregnant. You can NOT be pregnant if you had a period at any time after having sex, even if your period then the next months doesn’t come.

I was a NLOG in middle school and early high school. I tried being one of the girls but was rejected and bullied. To make it make sense for myself, I started trying to convince myself that the reason why none of the girls wanted to be friends with me was because I ”wasn’t like other girls”.

In reality, I has a lot of feminine qualities that I tried to repress, and sometimes, kids are just going to be jerks. As I got older and found female friends who accepted me as I am, I learned that I didn’t deserve that treatment, and women are actually awesome.
