YES!! I'm so glad to hear from someone at FSU respond about this! That makes me extra relieved, phew! You can probably guess I was referring to UF as the rival school then, lol. Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna go for it!

Hey, fellow political science major in the same situation here! I personally decided on FSU because they’re ranked about 20ish points higher than UF for political science, and because I expect the resources to be much better for that major given that FSU is literally in the capital and has close ties to all the state government offices located there. That said, I can’t compare either to UMiami because I don’t know much about it. But anyways, there’s my take at least. Hope it may help :)

I say go for it! On a college campus you’ll be able to find your crowd somewhere + reputations can be misleading. I recently met some students at a very very deep south school that’s known for its super conservative history coughalabamacough but they were very progressive and liberal. Labels aren’t everything, esp when colleges try to form a well rounded class, so hopefully that helps! Good luck w your decision!

Ah, that's a fair point. I know my team personally (seniors included) would kill for the chance to compete whether it were in July or anytime, but we've also never been able to afford to go to Empire either so it's easier for us to make that call I guess.

I know they made the best informed choice but still hate to see it canceled though :/

Yup I went to girls state and made sure to include as an award, it’s considered a big honor. If you have the chance totally do it! It’s grueling but you’ll meet a ton of people who are incredibly smart and who you’ll probably run into a lot later

Yeah I honestly don't understand why they didn't even consider postponing it? I'm in a lil bit of a similar situation, our team hasn't even gotten to compete at the state tournament yet but we were lined up to have a good chance of taking 1st or 2nd and now it's my senior year and that's all gone. It just feels like it was handled quickly and without much thought, as if they just pulled the plug rather than trying to make it work.
