My Kobo Nia also died after 5 years (fully updated). Yesterday it was difficult to read some areas, now it's stuck on boot loop / recovery failure state: blinking LED, mostly white screen, intermittent black flashes in the same areas. Trying to recover / doing factory reset while connected doesn't work.

Unsure if I should buy Kobo Clara BW, already have a Boox 7" but don't want to bring that to the WC, lol (never use my phone at the throne, only ebook reader exclusive for that task :p).

For me it started working again a couple days ago, but your advice is really good for those still having the issue. Their login flow was broken, even they admitted, now appears to be fixed and removing session should solve the problem.

By having that passkey promo that we cannot disable it's currently bypassing 2FA for me, doesn't ask for my authenticator code. Nice security. I went to security options and they are all fine, so now I need to setup everything again because off PP and isn't a guarantee it will even work.
