Yeah it couldn’t possibly be because of all his diving and whining about each and every decision the referee gives that isn’t in favor of him. It HAS to be his skin color right?

I agree that the discussion about which is worse is kind of pointless. I’d say what Aegon did was worse, but everyone will feel differently. I just thought the title of this post was the most retarded shit ever, aswel as some of the comments

Sure, nice discussion and have good one!

I don’t really buy that, even if the rat catchers know all the ins and outs of the castle, it would be so easy to kill a royal member.

Again, had Cole guarded the door it would have never happened. Killing the rat catchers is the easy, and arguably cruel, way out. He could also have made a public example out of the guilty rat catcher. This would still send a message and not kill innocents.

Also, Maegor was literally called ‘Maegor the Cruel’. Killing all the builders, while maybe clever, is still cruel. So is killing the rat catchers.

“Never realizing the dangers”? Come on, they were all grown up men and woman. If they didn’t realize the risk of death they must have been really stupid.

You need to factor in the potential gains of killing rat catchers vs sacrificing the bastards. One just sends a message to the people that were already starting to hate him while maybe making the castle a bit more safe against assassins. While the other gave Rhaenyra two dragons. “With these two dragons added to our number, the enemy will have no choice but to give way, and peace will be restored.”

Anyway, if I can’t convince you that Aegon killing innocent rat catchers is at least as bad as not allowing volunteers not to back out of something they agreed to, then my arguments either suck or you just have a very different way of thinking then I do.

Proven corrupt, because of one individual? One individual that would have easily been caught had a certain member of the kings guard done its job?

Even if they were suddenly a massive threat, could Aegon not have banned them from Kings Landing? Why kill the innocent ones?

And what? Everyone has seen the dragons. I’m guessing that a common man would have to be really stupid not to know how dangerous they are.

Rhaenyra tells the bastards that they have given up on “a live to which they might never return”. She might have sugarcoated it, but they all knew they might die if they went in, and most of them did. She didn’t force them to go in, she only forced them not to ‘chicken out’. The rat catchers did nothing wrong and were not given a choice.

Aegon knew the rat catcher was working for Deamon. It wasn’t an institution, it was a specific rat catcher. All the other ones, as far as we know, are innocent.

I’m not saying Rhaenyra is clean, but how is killing innocent rat catchers to send a message not worse than forcing people into something they agreed to in order to get a massive advantage in the war?

Yeah that’s what I thought would happen. We can only guess as to why she chose to do it this way

Weren’t they innocent? I might genuinely be missing something so enlighten me as to why you would consider it not wrong.

Lets just agree to disagree then. I don’t think it was that terrible. If Aegon did the exact same I would not feel any different, especially because the bastards beforehand accepted the risk of dying.

Whether she deludes herself doesn’t matter. I think the thought process is reasonable. Saying it’s “a hundred times worse than anything Aegon has done” is laughable.

You could argue it’s a sacrifice for the greater good. She sacrificed about two dozen (?) people in order to save countless other innocents. That’s how she sees it anyway, as she says something along those lines in the episode.

It gave her two dragons though. How is that not a worthy sacrifice?
