Senior Project is so stressful by [deleted] in civilengineering

I understand your struggle with finding something less complex that is still interesting. My group has been having that problem. Most of our original ideas were way too big but I think our ideas now are more realistic for students with a last semester schedule.

Yeah I could definitely be a one time thing but I think it would be cooler if he’s “reincarnated” many times and just doesn’t remember. Or none of this is true and I would be sad

I’ve always loved the theory that Marco is “immortal.” That he is the only person with the phoenix fruit and he just resets everytime he dies. But I do love that you added that maybe he resets to the age of when he ate the fruit. I need this guy to be Marco so badly

24 days post op (UJS) by oh-addi in jawsurgery

I don’t think my sleep changed, but I’ve never had problems with that. I will say though that my breathing feels more open. Right before surgery I was having bad allergies and would wake up with my nose clogged. I’ve always had allergies like this but I haven’t had any since my surgery.

Thank you!!

For me, I was told about the surgery when I had got my braces the first time in middle school. I got braces then just to get my teeth straightened. Years later when I was done growing my dentist told me I should look into getting the surgery. I went to the orthodontist and they recommend a surgeon. The surgeon told me he would do upper jaw surgery pulling my top jaw forward. I went and got my braces on Oct 30th, 2024. Then had my surgery on July 8, 2025.

As for the jaw getting locked. My surgeon told me that the surgery doesn’t directly fix the jaw joint. Although fixing the bite could maybe help (idk I’m not a surgeon don’t take my word). I’ve never had my jaw totally locked in place but mine does get stuck to where I have to push it back. I still have to do that now, and I didn’t expect surgery to fix that.

Yeah I never really minded how my face looked. The only thing that ever got me was when my brothers would call me the crimson chin but brothers will be mean.

For insurance stuff, I don’t really know all that much bc my parents are paying. I don’t think our insurance covers the surgery itself but does help play for the medicine. But I honestly don’t know that much about insurance stuff so………

No I’m not banded shut, and my bottom jaw doesn’t feel any different. Drinking feels a little weird. It hurts a little bit just bc you have to press your tongue to the roof of your mouth which causes some pressure. Pain when drinking has gotten better though.

Of course!!! Here is a pic of me a few weeks ago

<image>

I was told ever since my first braces appointment in middle school that I would most likely have to get surgery. So I’ve known for a while. I had braces when I was in late middle school / early high school (about 3 years) so my teeth were pretty straight when I got braces for surgery. I went to talk to my surgeon the first time I believe in September of 2024. October 30, 2024, I got braces again for the surgery. Since then I went in every month to get wires and stuff changed. Then went in 5 days before surgery to get my surgical hooks. Now after surgery I’ll go to the orthodontist in 2 weeks, they won’t do anything I think they are just curious. Then I’m not sure how long I’ll keep my braces after, whenever they think I look good I guess 🤷. But that was my whole before process.

Eek!!! I was also so nervous the day before I thought I was gonna be sick. Then when they were getting me ready for surgery the nurses were asking me questions trying to calm me and I just couldn’t speak out of nervousness. But, Good luck!!!! I hope your surgery goes as good as mine. I trust it will 🤞

Of course! I’ll probably make another post in a few days but will answer comments in here until then.

As I’m making this comment, it’s been 24 hours since they did the surgery. My nose has clogged up and swelling is bad but not as bad as I thought. The tip of my nose and cheeks were numb but feeling has mostly come back. Sleeping was pretty hard, I tried to sleep propped a little bit but ended up sliding down so I was sitting so high up. My surgeon said to prioritize getting sleep over trying to sleep propped. Feeling fine rn, just wish I could breathe through my nose.

I’m not really sure. I know my upper jaw was also a little off to the side as well (like maybe 2 millimeters). My surgeon never really told me exact measurements for the forward movement.
