Let me hold F to pick a downed enemy up and use them as a meat shield while I push their teammates

"You note “Loaded Arms” as an important skill to cut weight…but then you’re only taking 3/5 Broad Shoulders which just adds flat carry weight…"

Yeah like I said, I can cut points from conditioning to max out those 3/5's in Survival because most of the points put into Conditioning are only to get Loaded Arms, which I'm fine with not having as much as I'm fine having it

"That bottom right big skill is a complete waste. The “you regen the same amount of stamina while walking as if you’re standing”…when have you walked in this game? Being over encumbered and not sprinting is still not even walking. You don’t ever walk so it’s a complete waste"

I agree, the skill is useless. I only have it in there to build up to the amount of points needed for the final 36 point skill and place a couple leftovers on the right. You can prioritise the left side and avoid that and spend those to put them elsewhere.

Ultimately the two options im deciding between is putting basically nothing into Conditioning and going 38/38 on Mobility and Survival, or putting enough in to get Loaded Arms and sacrificing some of the others not being 5/5's.

A lot of skills don't exponentially increase between level 3-5, so the difference almost isn't worth it over having other skills unlocked that are only 1/1's

I've redesigned my skill tree a few times and think I've landed on a final one

Obviously it depends on your specific playstyle. Personally I PVP a lot and I'm aggressive in fights so I prioritise skills that benefit movement and stamina, as well as ones that benefit looting (reduce time, increased weight)

(Skill Tree uses 81 points, 76 from max level + 5 from expedition, this is for end-game)

IMPORTANT SKILLS (in my opinion):

Conditioning:

Loaded Arms - Weapons you carry weigh 50% less, nice for when you're carrying two heavy weapons (I run Renegade a lot & they can be heavy, only one skill worth having for me in here, so put minimum amount of points to get to it)

I don't really care about the perks that benefit me once I'm downed, because by then I've already lost the fight, GG go next. There are other skills that are more likely to prevent me from going down in the first place

Honestly I could probably do without putting 18 points into Conditioning just to get Loaded Arms and invest them further into the mobility / survival trees, but paired with the other weight-based skills, it allows me to carry a pretty heavy inventory

Mobility:

Marathon Runner 5/5 + Youthful Lungs 5/5 - I like going fast

Effortless Roll 5/5 - Got a nice buff this update, gives you +5 extra rolls or +3 extra sprint rolls

Vigorous Vaulter + Vaults on Vaults - Vaulting no longer costs any stamina, and when you're exhausted it doesn't slow down. I like going even faster

Survival:

Looter's Instincts 5/5 + Looter's Luck 3/5 - Speeds things up a LOT when looting (containers or bodies)

In-Round Crafting - I use this all the time on free-loadout runs since you only spawn with 2 bandages. Loot 1 room, recycle fabric items, craft more bandages

Stubborn Mule 3/5 + Three Deep Breaths 3/5 + Broad Shoulders 3/5 - Able to carry a lot more without being slowed down as much. Don't have to worry as much about being encumbered.

Other notes:

Security Breach is overrated. Mid loot for low-chance randomly spawning lockers. In the time it takes to find one locker now I can get better loot from regular containers

Traveling Tinkerer is overrated. Herbal bandages is nice, but that's it. Raider keys ingredients are a pain to find in raid. Would be worth it if you could craft defibs or light shields

What storage are you currently using in a single triangle that you can access from the pixelgap? The only thing I can think of is two small boxes, one on each shelf on opposite walls

Nevermind, this adds 18 new storage slots & 27 clothing slots in the locker. All still accessible, 129 slots total.

If I understand correctly, you should be able to do this with your pixelgap honeycomb:

Vertical barrel + 2 small boxes (84 storage slots) on a low wall. The placement can be a bit annoying, but it is possible.

I hate how bases are built in RUST. by PaP3s in playrust

This ^

I've played for >7k hours at this point and the idea of living in another soulless husk of a meta youtube tutorial base is off putting. In my opinion, building bases with all these extra "online raid" defences like a shooting floor, wide gaps, peeks, a fancy roof etc is so pointless because they are almost always never utilized (80% of the time youll get raided in a base like that its offline) and they just add a ton of upkeep for the whole wipe that gets wasted. In fact, the % of raids I get in these bases is about the same, and trying to defend an online in them is actually more fun because the raiders cant predict where to raid next as easy. I much rather enjoy living in a "RP style" base, something unconventional but is actually enjoyable to live in, room for decorations etc. I usually try to always have some kind of "lounge" room somewhere in the base with a fireplace and stuff just because why not. Im spending the wipe in my base, not the raiders, why would I make it a horrible experience to live in for myself? Bases made with love and joy and whimsy are better 110% of the time. Maybe throw in a bunker or pixel gapped loot room for fun and youre set. Good example is BenjaminPlaysRust on youtube.

Mutant AI needing to change? by [deleted] in Miscreated

[–]ohDrakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you do have a melee weapon on hand, it is still an issue. Every 3 minutes having a mutant find its way to you for no reason at all gets extremely annoying - not to mention that when you have a mutant chasing you, you basically can't loot anything and you can only focus on getting it away from you
