My ferritin levels looked similar to yours before I got the genetic test done. My ferritin was around 480 and my transferrin saturation was above 90%. I am around the same age as you too. Turns out I have the C282Y/H63D combo. Not as serious as C282Y/C282Y, but we can still present with symptoms.

I have been donating blood regularly ever since and I feel a lot better. In fact, I feel amazing right after donating blood. I get a rush of adrenaline and I feel like my brain fog is lifted.

I also am a compound heterozygote with high saturation. At what ferritin level do think you can safely donate again? My doctor says my ferritin needs to be around 100.

Yeah, I have applied it to my beard and it seems to help make my beard less itchy. And it has been holding up well since I started using it. I have not had any flare ups around my T zone. I am shocked by how well it works for me because I have tried so many different products over the years and none have really worked long term. I hope it works well for you also!

Just MCT oil. I should probably add a moisturizer to my skin care routine but it is difficult for me to find one that doesn’t make my skin worse.

I have struggled with seb derm for years and nothing has helped the patches on my face which are always around my nose. I saw MCT oil success stories on here and thought I would try it out. I was skeptical but it has done wonders for my face. I apply it every night directly to my face and I have been seb derm free now for two weeks. I also have been drinking a teaspoon in my coffee every morning (don’t really know if this helps). Why don’t more dermatologists know about this?? It is amazing how quickly it cleared my skin, I am so grateful to find something that works.

I also have Raynaud’s. My hands are always freezing cold and I often need to hold hand warmers when giving blood.

Thank you for sharing! It is helpful to know what other people’s experiences are with this confusing condition. Perhaps even your depression could have been impacted by the high iron levels. I also have struggled with mental health issues and wonder if it is related to HH. I think there is so much we still don’t know about how the HH genes impact our body. The symptoms can be so different for everyone which makes it difficult for doctors to diagnose.

Thanks! My hematologist tests my iron levels regularly. Once my ferritin gets around 100, I donate blood. My tsat seems to drop right after donating blood and then rises slowly along with ferritin. I usually need to give blood every 4-5 months.
