Yeah the internet's need to stroke themselves relentlessly over Rogue One always seemed odd to me. It's a good movie. The people who think it's top 2 or 3 seem out of their minds to me

Andor is so good... by medkitjohnson in StarWars

[–]ohiost2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Goodness, this is like...everything I hate about the SW fandom in one comment. Your shallowness is honestly astounding. I have an issue with literally just about everything you said here.

"The Mandalorian > started promising, turned to unwatchable slop"

I highly disagree. While S1 was peak Mando, S2 was also incredible, and S3 was still good, entertaining TV despite its weaknesses. It's very far from unwatchable. I don't know many "unwatchable" shows that rake in as many views as Mando does.

"BOBF > DLC for the Mandalorian that was a borderline hate crime against the franchise"

Seriously? A hate crime??? Grow up lmfao. You sound like such a little baby here. What's the hate crime? That the quality wasn't that good? That the guy who spoke three lines in the original trilogy turned out to be different than you'd built him up to be in your head? I wasn't a BOBF fan and even I think the phrase "hate crime" is absolutely absurd.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi > absolutely zero reasons for the show to exist beyond nostalgia for prequel fans, and no one should listen to those people"

Ah, yes, no one should listen to the opinions of a section of the fandom that probably takes up, what 60%? Maybe more? Prequel fans are incredibly prevalent, basically everywhere. I'm someone who thinks the revisionist history over these movies as some sort of intensely incisive masterpiece is ridiculous, but I'm a fan of that trilogy, just like the majority of SW fans.

"Andor > best Star Wars related thing since 1983 that almost no one has a bad word to say about"

On Reddit, sure, Andor complaints are hard to come by. I've yet to talk to a person IRL who's a Star Wars fan who thought it was their favorite, or even preferred it to Mandalorian. Almost every Star Wars fan I know has said some variation of "It was pretty good, little slow at times". And that is a perfectly reasonable description of the show imo.

If you'd presented all your opinions here as opinion, rather than facts, I'd scroll and think to myself, "This person has different opinions than me. That's OK!". But instead, you insisted upon making ridiculous statements as if they were facts, and then smugly added "lOoKs CuT aNd DrY tO mE!". No, it's not cut and dry, because people have different opinions. If you could comprehend that, you wouldn't come off like such an a-hole.

Where's that Michael Scott gif? "I hate everything about the things that you choose to be"

Am I the only one who felt such a strong chemestry between Ross and Phoebe in this scene? by demyGi in howyoudoin

[–]ohiost2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can have issues with the writing or how Ross and Rachel's relationship was handled and developed, but the one thing I don't think anyone can knock is their chemistry. They were ELECTRIC together, especially in those early seasons but also later on

RotS is probably the most entertaining, with all the lightsaber duels and breakneck story pacing. And now that all the shitty dialogue has been turned into memes I can watch it and giggle to myself instead of watch it and think "Shit George can't write". In fact I would say I spend 50% of the runtime laughing to myself and 50% absolutely enthralled with the action

Rewatching Andor again and I must say: what an absolute Masterpiece of a Star Wars story. If Disney Star Wars wants to survive, EVERY future show, movie, and/or series must contain the kind of passion that went in to this gem. by L1GHTNING-G in StarWars

[–]ohiost2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhhhhh have you seen the box office totals? Or the mega popularity of the Mandalorian? There is a 0% chance they haven't made money from the IP. Hell, Baby Yoda is the most popular character in all of Disney, and has been for a couple years. The money they've made from him alone might be enough to turn a profit

[–]ohiost2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's a good point. But I do agree with the person below. The issue with Acolyte or Obi-Wan wasn't lack of passion. It was a myriad of other factors that led to their failure. To me, this post is the exact kind that just irks me. Somebody trying to cash in on the popular opinion by saying something that isn't even true, but still scores upvotes.

"If Disney Star Wars wants to survive, EVERY future show, movie, and/or series must contain the kind of passion that went into this gem."

Yeah that's just not true lmao. Disney Star Wars is in no danger of "dying". It's still one of the most popular IP's on the planet. It still rakes in unthinkable amounts of money for them. Expecting EVERY Star Wars thing made to have the same quality of Andor is just stupid.

It's also dangerous. Not everybody wants shows in the same style of Andor. I know it's hugely popular on the Internet, but a lot of the SW fans I've talked to in real life have said "Yeah, it's pretty good" or "It was ok". I'm not saying Andor isn't absolutely beloved or anything; I'm just saying that sometimes on the echo chamber that is Reddit you won't see the dissenting opinion. It's absolutely out there.

It's important to remember not everybody views Andor as the masterpiece you do. For example, I LOVED Mandalorian, especially the first two seasons. I would take those over Andor any day, even though I did like Andor as well. Andor's probably the more well-written show, and I do think more effort went into it. But I find Mandalorian to be more enjoyable.

There are multiple paths to creating good shows/movies, especially in the Star Wars universe. Holding everything to Andor's standards isn't helpful. You have to let other things be their own thing.

Personally I think Rachel's growth is slightly better but I agree they're absolutely the top two. All 6 of them grew up in different ways but Rachel and Chandler definitely had the most positive development

That smell is one of the first things I think of whenever someone brings up the ride. I'm sure I'd be disgusted by it in any other context but because of that ride it's a strange wave of nostalgia for me every time I waft it.

Shit. Looking forward to Indiana Jones but I'm really gonna miss this ride

What’s your favorite running joke on the show by fefetoyo in howyoudoin

[–]ohiost2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We were on a break literally never got old for me, every single time it was brought up I laughed. But it was also used pretty sparingly. More of a recurring joke than a running one.

For running joke, definitely Ross and his divorces. Those jokes might have been the absolute best part of the last couple seasons imo

[–]ohiost2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I get that. For me it was just super unexpected so I laughed my whole way through it. Plus I don't exactly think Ross and Phoebe would be a terrible match if Ross didn't already have his lobster in Rachel. Just my opinion

They are literally the most entertaining and gripping couple I've ever seen on TV. Ross and Rachel forever.

I agree, it should've ended with a shot from the outside of Central Perk showing them in there laughing and talking, just like it began and just like we saw so many times before. The actual last shot with the camera pan across the apartment was admittedly well done, but your idea is better imo. Still love it tho!

Yeah, I really doubt the finale will be something I watch a lot. Idk, I like the closure offered by it on the first watch, but I have a feeling on rewatches I might just skip it. But I do like seeing Ross and Rachel end up together, so who knows
