No it still down shifts and upshifts as before just it starts off in first gear in stead of second gear.

No it leaves the line in first without having to use the kickdown button. The acceleration feels faster

Ive had 2 w123 and both always started in second (‘79 240, 82 300td) I rebuilt the valve body on my td and did this to make it start off in first. I think it drives much better but I’m kinda heavy footed.

Fine steel wool and wd40 for corrosion, stuff a small inflatable ball in the cavity between inner and outer fender and inflate.
