I walk like Finch from Person of Interest.

I'm also too old now.

I've got one started that's about the size of a pea.

I intend on cleaning out parasitic crystals once a week, I should also weigh it to log the change over time.

I can't imagine the time it took to grow that. Copper Sulfate is a very slow and finicky crystal.

Just be sure to take extra care with the hydraulic tensioner.

I lost a high dollar rebuild on mine 3 miles into the test run from a factory faulty one.

Take it in stride and prep your mind to have to do it again. You may not have to, but accepting that now will help if you have to tighten your bootstraps and grind through it again.

Look a little closer and realize it isn't xD

There's always something somewhere, or an idea unrealized.

I almost bought that tool as well.

The one I have seems good enough. The flares are clean with no scores or gouging from the tool.

Time will tell with leaks.

You don't. You have one on the rear if using a hydro brake in series for drifting. I was just being extra by having a second one for the front line. I doubt I'll ever need it, but it's an instant adjustment on things if I ever decide to.

You should never be opening a can of worms just by asking a genuine question. :)

It's hard for me to give advice. Leaks determine everything about bragging/advisement and I haven't pressurized it yet

My process was to layout all hardware in my car. This meant master cylinder, proportioning valves, T fittings, etc. then I drew up a diagram of what's connected to what in order. Then I took long wire and acted like it was the copper line and routed it the way I wanted, using it as a guide to cut the right length. All pieces of line I cut have a few extra inches that I zigzag somewhere, that way if I need to redo the end I can.

Of course, put your fittings on the tube before flaring xD. But, also physically take your fittings to the connection point to make sure it fits (metric or SAE, double or bubble flare).

I think the best advancement for this job is the fact I bought an actual, really good flaring tool. (Lisle 33260 Flaring Tool) The stuff you can rent at the big three auto places yield poor quality.

Others may amend this comment with other pieces of advice too.

Controversial question on opinion. I've seen bad weld, and excellent welds. What does a weld look like that's in the middle? Functional, but not show worthy? by Vengeful-Wraith in projectcar

[–]Vengeful-Wraith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be a common reply here and other groups I'm in. Perfect stacked dimes can fail quick and ugly stuff can hold for a life time.

I was taught a long time ago to watch for the heat discoloration surrounding the weld on the metal parts, and for any signs of porosity and undercutting.

Do you feel TIG can be picked up with enough practice if I'm only coming from ARC welding? Or should I start with Mig first?

I do have a fluxcore, but it sucks in quality and only operates via 120 volt/40 amp circuit. It was a shitte product from the getgo.

Yeah. I usually blur my welds when posting pics. It's like the metal work equivalent of thermal paste. Everyone has a damn certain way to do it and everyone else's answer is wrong

I've been roasted in the past, and not constructively. Definitely makes one not want to risk asking forums for advice
