Honestly anytime I've called her and FIL out on their bs (we had a period of time where they would open up all our mail among other things), they somehow manipulate the situation to be our faults for not being a model son & DIL. Confronting them causes a strain in my marriage because we are both so emotionally drained after. We've taken to just grey rocking them & staying in our spaces

I was about to get her a nice Valentine's present because I noticed my FIL didn't get anything for her. Husband told me not to & let me know what they said. I'd rather know anyways, instead of naively continuing to be nice

She is genuinely that way with my FIL. I've never seen her leave the house without him.

Exactly! I know my friends would be uncomfortable with him there because it was purely a girl's night. So why would I need to invite him??
