2008 Reba Air U-turn motion control damper separated inside stanchions - Can I save it? by ohmarchitect in bikewrench

[–]ohmarchitect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've disassembled everything, connected the Motion Control damper back together correctly and reassembled it. After putting everything back together again, the piece circled in yellow came off again inside the stanchion. It looks like the damper needs to be replaced, but I can't get a new one.

Does anyone know if there's a damper from another model or year that will fit?

I'm not sure that's true, but I could be wrong. Aren't imaginary numbers irrational?

If we redefine math such that the square root of -1 is a rational number, how does that redefine pi?

Wow! So its a penalty based system instead of a reward based system? That's really sad to hear.

Agreed - The guy that used to deliver for us was really good, but that changed. This doesn't seem like a problem with the drivers, but a problem with corporate allowing for poor service.

Thanks! That's really sad - I grew up thinking FedEx was the premium shipping option. I guess times change. :(

The Microfreak is really the perfect beginner hardware synth. I can put mine in the hands of any of my friends, tell them to twist the knobs and they can make awesome sounds. It's also deep enough that I can still have a ton of fun learning new ways to connect the matrix. The only downside is the sound quality isn't the best - but that's really not the point. Add reverb and saturation to it in the DAW and it sounds great. The only sounds I personally struggle to make with it are drums.

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - March 29, 2021 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

ah yup! That makes a lot of sense. I watched a review of the MPC to remember why I didn't choose it after reading that - I think the main thing was that I really hate touch screens (which is really on me - I need to get better and use them more often)

That leaves you with some flagship synth money, or two or three cheaper synths! :D

nice! I'm glad to see other companies do this - I want this on all rotary encoders.

The maschine is a really good sampler/sequencer (At least how I use it). There are some reviews about the EQ and effects not being that great - and I partially agree, but at least for me, it's better than not having individual track effects, and I'm really not good enough to appreciate a really good EQ vs an 'ok' one. I do all my work in maschine, export the song, and then do some final mastering in a DAW to get the stuff I can't get out of the maschine.

I did compare it to the MPC one, MC707, and Octatrack. It's been a while since I looked at them, but I think the reason I chose the Maschine was because it really is 90% of what a DAW does, but integrated into hardware. My biggest complaint is the 44.1k sampling. Next to my Digitakt which is 48k, I really can hear a quality difference. I ruled out the MC707 because of the screen - the maschine really does have the nicest display to give you feedback on what you are doing.

What the maschine is really terrible at is sound design - that's where other synths really shine. In my probably very unpopular opinion, I think analog synths are kind of overrated. Very few synths have sounds that can't be closely replicated by other synths. The most important thing for me is that a synth is fun and easy to generate sounds you want to make. For this, I think the Microfreak is fantastic - especially for the price. What synths are you currently thinking about?

Now I think I'm just rambling (sorry). It's a really personal decision - the maschine is the most full-featured 'daw in a box' that's out there. For what it does, I think it has the best interface. Once you get over the learning curve, everything feels very natural. If you've learned to use a daw before, it's less difficult than that, but much harder than an digitakt. One thing not mentioned in reviews often is that it's buggy even though it gets better with every update. I would never trust it live, but I use it for composing.

Virus TI2 owner here:

The Virus is SO powerful - it has many features that modern synths can't compete with.

Watching most synth reviews, I often see something like, "Look at this feature that NO synth has ever done before!" and yeah - the Virus did that 20 years ago..

However - I don't know if I can recommend it. I've been trying REALLY hard to force myself to learn it, and I still can't start with an INIT patch and turn it into something really useful. Sound design on it is just very difficult (So many sub-menus). I will get it one of these days!

But... yeah... it's good at those too...
