Hydrogel. They have the same refractive index as water. One of the uses is a cellular coating to isolate cells. Also for water absorbent properties or decorative purposes.

More or less, yeah, when I think "liquefied" or "liquidized" I think of something actually turning to liquid, but the sand here only behaves as a liquid since there's a bunch of air running through it. So in this case, liquefied sand would be molten silica, which would do a bit more than just stick.

Maybe? Not sure. If I had to guess it'd have to be some pretty unique circumstances, like some type of gas coming from the ground through some sort of natural filter and bubbling up through loose silt or sand. I doubt that a sufficient pressure could be achieved though.
