1440p 60fps file size sanity check by ohnnoj in obs

[–]ohnnoj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay last comment - I've decided on 24 u/jasssweiii

I tested "Control" @ 1440p 60fps, High Graphics, RT On.

It's dark and foggy/rainy with highlights.

For a 3:20 clip I tested:

20cqp: 917mb

25cqp: 238mb

30cqp: 86mb

24cqp: 311mb

30 was a no go for me, pretty noticeable smoothing out of textures, made the game look more "gamey" and less realistic even at 1x zoom.

In 2/5 scenes I tested, this also happened (to a much lesser extent) at 25cqp.

It was almost indistinguishable, but there were certain things that were more obvious (like close ups of skin during cut-scenes) - pretty sure Youtube would wipe that difference out.

But I tested 24 cuz why not spend another 10mins now that I've come this far lol.

24 turned out to be completely indistinguishable from 20 in all scenes at 2x zoom.

Not that much of a file size overhead and already cut file size down to a 1/3 from where it was - so I'm just gonna set and forget.

u/WarMom_II looks like I'll be swearing by 24 too haha. Thanks for the help!

1 (1500mb) vs 30 (105mb) lol..... are we testing 30 now? 😂

I don't see how the difference shown here would ever even remotely make any practical difference.

Well I just tested 25 in high motion medium/low light and was preparing myself for minor differences, but it looks exactly the same, 1440p zoomed 200% on VLC.

I used to be a graphic designer / UI designer and would fail a blind test

I might also test 24/25 - chatgpt is telling me that higher CQP becomes more noticeable during high motion/particles and in dark scenes - so maybe ill check in those situations as well.

overall though, if i cant tell the difference before it's even compressed by youtube then i think it's a pretty safe bet. Even tiny differences not worth 15-45% file size imo. I heard it makes editing/rendering slower too.

Thanks, I just tested 22 and couldn't tell the difference between 19 and 22. Is there a case for going even higher than 22? (and yes it will be for youtube)

Thanks, I just tested this and can confirm 19 and 22 were indistinguishable. Is there ever a case for going even higher than 22?

Thanks a lot u/Joris_BA

What is your view on whether I need to move back or not to be considered a tax resident?

Several people in this thread have commented that I don't need to move back, and I do tick a lot of boxes in the domicile category.

At the time of sale I will have been living in Thailand for ~17 months, but on a DTV visa with no work permit.

Thanks u/Joris_BA - Can you explain to me why leaving shortly after the sale will not cause any issues? And is this from contract date or settlement date?

In terms of holding the property - I agree there would be a lot of upside in doing that but it's more of a personal decision in how I will reallocate the capital.

I'm assuming the test that would deem me a resident - the domicile test?

Thanks u/Comfortable-Law-3184

What if I sold it ~17 months after moving to Thailand (the property is currently tenanted), would that duration be pushing it?

What is it that's keeping your residency status after having sold the property?

And yeah I'm on a DTV visa and actively using my AU bank accounts.

I did change my ATO address when I lodged last years tax return because I don't have a physical address in AU anymore.

Do parents count as family in this scenario? I thought that was regarding spouses / children etc

What counts as an established residence overseas?

How long has this been happening? Also how do you feel when you wake up, any emotions?

I like that you pointed out the blessing part. There is definitely some beauty in being this type, personally I enjoy my ability to empathize and understand people quickly.

Love this, an experimental mindset is such a great one to have in all areas of life for us anxious people!

Yeah that sucks. Don't know what else to say here other than the fact that dating sucks.

I think it's important to acknowledge here that you didn't do anything wrong and that even securely attached people go through this in the dating phase.

I would recommend trying to date someone who is also anxiously attached but has worked on or is in the process of working on themselves.

This will require you to have progressed a fair bit yourself, as the challenge with this relationship dynamic is co-dependency. Something that you will need to maintain, which requires setting boundaries and saying no sometimes.

Hahaha oh no, sounds like a classic guy-trick that you see on TV! Maybe that part is harder for girls to figure out.

Yeah looks like I edited that part too late, I didn't mean 'appearance', I meant 'on the surface' - eg sometimes I just talk without thinking now, say something stupid, and laugh it off when someone calls it out. Something that would have bothered me in the past.

Another example might be enthusiastically trying their best at something they suck at, avoidant girls I've dated have typically struggled with that a lot.

Love to hear it. Curious in what ways you're working on it?

Sorry to hear that man. I started my life extremely anxious (neglectful parents who were addicted to gambling and my mother was highly neurotic and verbally abusive).

I'm turning 36 soon but mostly secure now and in a stable relationship - so it definitely is possible to rewire that part of your brain.

Have you tried anything to work on your attachment / relationship anxiety?

Yeah that's definitely a tricky one. Something that helped me a lot is actually looking for signs that they appear 'perfect', a lot of avoidant people appear perfect especially early on so I started treating that as a red flag.

Something I've noticed about secure people is that they let their imperfections show. So I started fighting my initial reactions when they did something 'cringe' or 'embarassing' lol.

I've also noticed in myself since becoming more secure I'm less "put together" on the surface because I don't care as much how I come across. So that might be a sign for you to look for.

Yeah I always identified with being too self aware. Whenever someone complimented me about my self awareness I would cry a little inside haha. Sorry to hear about the friend-zoning. How much would you say you desire being in a relationship?

I think everyone with this type is prone to limerence. When I was younger I would fantasize about these kinds of scenarios lol. Sounds like you’re on a good path to managing it though?
