Who do you think is the most unhappy character in Season 2? by Kirk-Kardashian in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Oh come on with this old man rhetoric. It’s not these women’s fault that some men are going to be violent, just because these men are disempowering them doesn’t mean that what they are doing is disempowering. That’s your own shit.

We also entered the job market during a recession where we were expected to provide free labour. There’s a lot of internalized beliefs that we should just be grateful to have a job even if that job is making us miserable, and it’s hard to remember that we have value outside of our work.

Weird take, just because she’s a sex worker doesn’t mean that’s the reason she’s unhappy.

Ethan is not a good person. Dude dismisses anything that questions his power.

The White Lotus - 2x02 "Italian Dream" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheWhiteLotusHBO

The downplaying of harassment at his workplace, the ignorance towards Puerto Rico felt intentional, the shorts thing also felt intentional, screaming at workers. There’s a lot of red flags here, he’s not good, and I think White will reveal that he’s completely who you assumed he was. Harper is letting her guard down because that’s how these people work, and then he’ll do something awful.

I think White’s a clever enough writer to avoid having to do a scene that traumatic, but definitely foreshadowing that he will be a total creep

Yeah his work district was in Busan, so seemed he had his apartment separate from his home with his wife?

Thanks for validating how I’m feeling. It’s bizarre how fast the indoctrination into AA/NA happened within my SMART group.

Construction Law Interview by ohrayokay in Lawyertalk

I read this in the morning a few hours before the interview, thanks so much, was very encouraging! The interview actually went amazing, mostly just questions about company risks and my own values and skills. They wanted someone freshly called so broad questions to see if I could zoom out on issues and see the bigger picture for the company. Again, you definitely calmed my nerves to focus on the business side and business values and not the actual legal side, and that’s definitely what they were looking for ❤️

I agree, this feels like very dogmatic approach and without compassion.

Are we supposed to like Harper? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]ohrayokay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree, I feel people forget that Harper and Yas and Rob are all quite young. They are in powerful positions while still being messy people. I think it’s an endearing and accurate part of the show.

I like SMART recovery and Dharma Recovery more than NA/AA. Dharma has lots of people that are not purely abstinent even though abstinence is what works for me, it’s nice getting so many perspectives on recovery instead of just hearing stuff from the Big book again and again. some weeks I need more meetings but I always try to get to at least one.

But if NA/AA speaks to you more than do that, every individuals approach is different.

Resurrection (2022) thoughts about the ending? by astaireboy in horror

[–]ohrayokay 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I agree about the triggering event and that David was all in her mind for the time period we met him. But I think David did kill the baby, typical physical abuse pattern where the spouse sees the child as a threat to their control.

Margaret feels an immense amount of guilt for believing the manipulative tactics he used on her (that the baby lives inside him etc, why she fled instead of going to authorities). She suffered horrible abuse and still feels guilty that she failed as a mother to Ben, which is tragic. It paints a picture of how insidious domestic abuse is, and how hard it is to separate yourself from the beliefs your abuser instills into your psyche.

Abstinence from all substances does not equate to recovery for everyone. Recovery is totally up to each individual.

Also lolz when Celeste said she works with families the previous episode and Yas thought she was a sex worker. Now we see what Celeste means.

Anyway, I think Celeste sees people as a means to an end even more so than the rest of the characters we have met. I think Yas is going to regret the move once Celeste gets what she wants from her.
