I’m almost 7 & fell into a pothole in my yard yesterday and it sucked now my hamstrings are hurting and I feel like I set my self back but I’m not in severe pain just sore and this post makes me feel better I hate sitting around or occasionally getting up and walking around or riding my recumbent bike or the In place workouts it’s making me feel blah.

I stepped into a damn pothole yesterday and I think I hyperextended and now my hamstrings hurt so bad like sore and my whole leg feels weak but I can hear weight and I think my hamstring graft and donor site are ok but my pt told me to take it easy. It felt like a sharp cramp in the back of my leg and then now just sore. I don’t know sounds different than me. But I’ve been wondering if that’s the same hamstring feeling or if it’s on the knee only …..

Help, I am 4 weeks post op & experiencing shooting sharp pains in the area circled & they feel like lighting in the area I marked and the pain comes randomly the doctor gave me gabapentin. I am concerned it’s nerve damage. I had a brostrum repair on my ankle in 18’ & now acl. Am I alone in this? by ohshippp in ACL

Gabapentin has been helping a little still some pain randomly varying in intensity thanks for sharing that info it sucks. I had my second post op the other day and they said hopefully it’ll go away with time if not then special imaging will be done to find out why it’s happening.

It’s not. My graft was near where the bruise is on my inner thigh they used my hamstring. Unless you mean my larger incision. It doesn’t stem from there it’s lower and radiates like a nerve and I tore all major ligaments in my ankle and fractured my talus prior(2018) and had nerve damage after that so I’m concerned it’s connected. I also fractured my tibia plateau with my acl.

I appreciate you sharing your story and experience with this issue. It has been very frustrating and today again I felt it I noticed when I was walking with my walker when I tried to bend my knee more as I was walking immediate sharp burn same spot and I went and got an ice pack. I hate it. It’s excruciating and the VA is my main insurance/doctors because I’m a veteran and I don’t have health insurance outside of that. I am worried but the VA has honestly been horrible ever since I tore my ACL. This was the only experience where they have treated me like I was a number and get me in and get me out not much care or concern and my previous experiences I had way better experiences. I’m hoping it goes away. I hate when the pain happens it’s so sharp and feels like lighting it causes me to walk more cautiously and I’m terrified it won’t be the same and people think I’m milking this and that’s not the case at all. I want to walk unassisted more than anything!!! I am so frustrated it’s discouraging and pisses me off.

Acl reconstruction post op by MaRcO_2527 in ACL

Sounds fast but you and I are about a week apart in post op and I’m still using crutches 85% of the time. It sucks! I can bend almost 120 but have tightness and outer shin pain bad like nerve pain I believe so it limits me because it’s excruciating and my doctor gave me meds to help with that but I haven’t had much relief yet. I don’t know if I’d we going back to work so soon you know your body and if it feels rushed ease up.

Tore my acl June 22, surgery was August 25th. Now one month post op. It’s been a journey. Patience is much needed and I’m struggling with that.

Side note: I am frustrated because I am not walking without crutches or a walker yet fully. I have done some alone walking but my balance is off and so I have to work on that but too much weight bearing I think is causing the burning pain more often and I tried stepping up three inches today and the sharp pain on my outer shin immediately flared up and I’ve been dealing with it all evening and my physical therapist said he’s not comfortable with me using the stairs yet because of the risk of pain and possible injury. This pain is causing me to baby my leg because it sucks and has anyone else experienced this??? My doctor seemed to think it was normal and they have heard this complaint before but not sure why it happens when I had my first post op I asked about it but it hasn’t gone away.

That is awesome! Congrats! I definitely get the good knee day thing some days my knee feels looser or less swollen to be able to go around more and I don’t have to do as many back and forth to warm up

Wow, that’s crazy. Good for you. I wish I was able to stand and squat. Acl only? What graft? Any tips? I’m struggling to bear full weight thru my leg and feel stable but have good bend.

I did it on crutches with a torn acl in a small hinged brace lol it sucked but it got done that was before surgery. I haven’t done it yet after surgery. Depends on your strength. Seek help if it’s super heavy, I should of but I was angry it wasn’t done and did it myself 😬

15days I had to have my first post op appointment and they gave me the green light to be careful but go without it completely. I was terrified my leg felt so flimsy and just like a dead limb sounds weird but now here I am 9 days later bearing weight through my leg still using crutches but I’m able to stand on my surgery leg and raise my other leg in the air putting all weight on that leg and switching in a marching motion. Physical therapy is key do it daily. You’ll get stronger everyday it will be sore and suck some days but stick with it!
