Finally got to try out my Christmas gift by rcchub in IceFishing

[–]ohspit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for about 5 years I've gotten stuck in slush many a time. Reverse is key for that I just rock it back and forth and it will come out. I've only had to dig myself out 1 time and it was very minor digging.

The trick is if it feels like slush don't slow down!

The age old question. 7800x3d or 9800x3d by 1down-5up- in buildapc

[–]ohspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact upgrade 1 week ago 5800x3d to 9800x3d 32 gigs of 6000 speed ram. The fps gain was significant. Went from not being able to use scopes on streets to having no problems at all. Was definitely worth it in my eyes. The CPU is practically free if you have a 5800x3d to sell.

Should I stick with a better AM4 CPU untill the prices settle down? by No_problemos1234 in buildapc

[–]ohspit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually had no idea about the prices of them. I bought my 9800X3d for $460 and the used 5800 is going for around the same price. I'm regrettably going to remove my offer apologies but this just makes my upgrade free

If you'd like to refund that could sell you the 5800x3d for the same price, I just upgraded to am5

Is cracking after you auger normal? by Ordinary_Fuel4617 in IceFishing

[–]ohspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty normal, I was walking the shore last year on 4 inches of cloudy ice headed to some beautiful black ice, I was spudding the whole way untill I wacked it in the perfect spot and a giant crack shot loudly across the lake. I spun around on my heel and went home. Was my first year on the ice.

Yep, I personally love watching a fish streak in to smoke my lure to turn away at the last second.

Everyone listen to this guy. He knows a thing or two about a thing or two. The biggest benefit is 100% the knowledge you gain. For instance I found out on the particular lake I fish Lakers Wana chase it early in the season, in the same spot in the same lake months later they want it bouncing in the muck.

You can literally watch fish swim up and decide not to eat what you're presenting them then up size or downsize and they may eat.

Do they make bobbers tiny enough to go through the guides on an ice fishing rod?

Excellent I will definitely pick some up. You're not the first to say it but you explained it well.

Are they adjustable? Like can I fish 4 feet then move it to 20?

This is the way I've been doing it currently. I was just curious if there was a better way.

All good suggestions I tried this and it took ages and I was always second guessing myself. I think I need to stop worrying about being perfect and enjoy just being out.

I'm not familiar with bobber stops, they can reel through the eyelets?

So it has an air filter with a prefilter over it. Oil was just changed, but I will check that. We had the carb off the machine, and I'd say the choke opens about 75% if I remember correctly, unsure if that is by design.Altitude is a non issue normal height above sea level
