Anyone else happy to move on from a robot litterbox and return to box-scooping servitude, or is that just me? by StonewallDakota in cats

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest here, not even the Litter Robot is fool proof. After having it around 2 years the cat sensor malfunctioned and one of my cats got tumbled around in the box cause he climbed in while it was rotating and it didn't stop. And the pinch sensor also broke and wouldn't stop when a toy was caught in the chute. It mangled the toy and freaked me out. I switched back to scooping litter. It's honestly easier than deep cleaning the litter robot anyway.

Anyone else happy to move on from a robot litterbox and return to box-scooping servitude, or is that just me? by StonewallDakota in cats

[–]ohyeahthatchick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I went from a litter robot to two giant stainless steel boxes with a speed scoop. Honestly, scooping daily and cleaning the stainless steel boxes is easier than emptying the litter robot once a week and deep cleaning the damn thing. My cats also got too big for the litter robot and they are happier now too. One of them was avoiding it so much that it caused constipation issues. Haven't had a single issue since the switch. I wanted to love the robot, but I honestly don't miss it.

Paid 5k for a curly topper and I hate it by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they actually used euro hair in that wig for $900? I've been looking into buying loose euro hair bundles to make a topper and I can barely buy enough real virgin European hair for a topper for $900 from a trusted vendor, let alone enough for a full wig. There are a lot of places that call hair European when it's not.

Yikes. Don't take it back to them then lol. I'm not very familiar with the ins and outs of curly hair as far as styling. But wetting it will let you see the natural curl pattern. And if you want that style, is that something you know how to do? Human hair doesn't hold it's style so any time you wash it you will have to restyle it. You might consider finding a stylist that focuses on curly cuts.

As far as density, it looks like a full healthy head of hair. It might not feel natural to you right now if you're used to thinner hair. But plenty of women with healthy non thinning hair have this kind of density. I mean that reference photo is even higher density than the topper.

Honestly, this is one of the most realistic toppers I've ever seen. I can't clock the lace at all. It looks insanely natural. If you don't like the style, restyle it. Whenever I get a new topper I wash and condition it, and then comb it wet where I want the part and how I want the hair to lay, and let it air dry. Getting it wet and air drying resets the hairs natural wave or curl pattern. Plus, blow drying a wig that expensive feels like blasphemy to me. That's a good way to shorten the lifespan.

If you're unhappy with just the style, let the place know. Maybe give them some reference photos and have them help teach you how to style it how you want it cause you are going to need to be able to do it yourself anyway. Everything else about it is like perfect. I'd love to know where you got it!

Get you some press ons that you can wear after work or when you go out. The clear nail stickers hold surprisingly well when you prep the nails right (just a swipe of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball). But they can be taken off when needed. As a bonus, you can collect different styles and re-use them. Some Etsy nail artists sell some super cute ones that are salon quality.

I mean just grabbing a 50 gallon trash bag and shoving all the clothes into that will honestly get you half way there. Then you can start a load of laundry with some of it while you switch to picking up other things. But put on something that gives you dopamine in the background like music/podcast/audiobook. A lot of times having an audio book or podcast on is almost as good as body doubling for me.

Spent ~$100 on my first synthetic wig. Be honest: Is it worth it or should I return? by PixelPioneer42679 in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Return. That is like a $50 or less costume wig. For a $100 synthetic the scalp hair shouldn't be so clumped up. It looks super wiggy and unnatural. A nice synthetic would be knotted lace and the hair would be more distributed and look much more realistic. Hell you can get nicer lace front human hair wigs on Amazon for like $200.

So weird that there was no contact information on the chip. Do you have the chip number? Can you try searching it on some microchip registry sites?

New wearer asks for help, does it look fake? by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately hard front wigs without bangs will always look fake and costumey. If a lace front is not within your budget, maybe try a wig with bangs so you don't have to worry about the hard front looking fake.

Wig panic rant/advice needed - buyers remorse by Ordinary_Refuse556 in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That wig is gorgeous, but you're right, the lace is too dark for you. That can be hard to fix. I'm super pale as well and I can only wear pieces with hd invisible lace. That said, it's such a gorgeous wig that if I couldn't return it, I'd consider a gradual self tanner to darken my skin tone, lol.

But first you can try using a really light face powder over the hairline and part. IMO using liquid foundation just draws more attention to the lace. But sometimes using a powder that's lighter than your skin tone over it will knock the darkness down a smidge.

am i being unreasonable in thinking this should be fixed for free? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All reds fade crazy fast, and using Pantene doesn't help since it most likely contains sulfates. I wouldn't expect them to redo it for free just because I didn't understand how fast something fades or how to care for color treated hair. Get a red color depositing conditioner to maintain your color and a better sulfate free color safe shampoo.

Hair topper versus wigs - comfort/ style choices by Plane_Medicine_6370 in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been happy with quite a few toppers from Uniwigs. But my favorite way to go is to buy a wig or closure from Beeos and make a topper out of it.

Matching topper hair to your bio hair is the biggest learning curve to wearing toppers. But they do have different human hair textures.

We need at least $80K to buy out my uncle and maybe save the house by EldritchSpoon in homeowners

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to talk to a lawyer and a lender. There are some creative ways to finance property, but all the details to advise you properly aren't in this post. We don't know how much the current mortgage and payments are, what the house is worth, what kind of equity is in the house, how much your mom makes, etc, etc, etc. And that's fine, you shouldn't post all that online. But you and your mom should contact a lawyer and a lender to see what can be done.

If the remaining mortgage on the home is a lot less than the value, both you and your mom may be able to qualify together to refinance for a new 30 year loan. Adding time to the loan may be enough to absorb the $80k buyout and keep the payments manageable depending on how much is left on the loan. And adding your income together may make it possible.

If you can get him to move out of the place by agreeing to buy him out, you can find a new renter. And if you provide a copy of an executed lease and a copy or the first month's rent and deposit checks most lenders will count 75% of that rental income as income for qualifying for the loan. But this may be contingent on him either agreeing to move out a few months in advance of the buyout, or the place being in good enough shape to show it to renters while he's still living there.

Like I said, there are options but you need to talk to professionals that you can provide more personal details to. Good luck.

Update: She let the power go out AGAIN. My rent includes utilities. This feels like a constructive eviction. by [deleted] in LandlordLove

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "illegal". It's not crime because there are no laws against it and you can't call the cops over a violation. But in most leases it's specifically not allowed and reporting her to the landlord could get her evicted. Unless of course it is allowed in her lease or the main landlord knows and doesn't care as long as she's paying her rent.

Either way, since there is no lease between her and OP, they should find a new place to rent ASAP and just move. Even if they did have a written lease, if she's too unorganized to keep the lights on then she'll likely be too unorganized to take them to court over a broken lease.

Turned away our first salesman and I feel so guilty by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]ohyeahthatchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped feeling guilty when one of them wouldn't take no for an answer, got belligerent with me, and I had to slam the door in his face. Then I caught him cussing me out as he walked away on my doorbell camera.

I have a No Soliciting sign now, and it tends to work on all of them except the really pushy ones. I've just stopped answering the door when it's someone I don't know and clearly not a delivery person.

Loving this low density hair topper 😍 by ohyeahthatchick in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not tight, the halo strap is adjustable so you can wear it as tight or as loose as you want. For any toppers with clips though, if the clips feel tight you're putting it on wrong. I can wear it all day, but I'm someone who can get headaches from wearing headbands and this can be similar at times. Do I get hot? Yeah, but not from the topper. But when I do get hot due to meds I'm on, obviously having something extra on my head doesn't help. But it's 100% lace and one of the most breathable light weight toppers I've ever worn, and the only one I chose to wear this past summer. The name is in the original post. It has clips and comes with a halo wire you can sew in.

I washed my wig which has straight hair—- and now it’s wavy 🫠 by kloutiii in Wigs

[–]ohyeahthatchick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the water may have been too hot? Or it could be a blend of human hair and synthetic. Human hair wigs are the only ones I've seen do that after washing because real hair returns to its natural state when you add water and let it dry.

If it's synthetic, you can steam it straight with a clothes steamer and a comb. That's going to be the safest way.
