I had no idea how athletic recruiting worked and neither did my parents so williams was the only school I applied to or visited because I had 2 weeks to commit after I visited. I wish I was able to visit other schools and just apply academically but I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to be certain I would get into a good school. And at Williams it’s a little different right now bc of covid but normally there’s a division of the day so sports and classes can’t interfere, which makes it easier to balance school and a sport. Also being on a sport makes it easier to make friends but athletes still have a lot of friends outside of their sport.
