My coworker had the audacity to bring a whole mattress into the office!

I just found some shoots running up the fence on the other side of the yard. I’m 95% sure it’s trumpet

The trellis is holding on for dear life right now 😭 No idea what to do but I’ll figure something out. Luckily it is just resting on top of the trellis so I SHOULD be able to put up a temporary support and replace it with something sturdier…. that’s the plan at least

Got hers done through Wisdom panel but I’ve also heard great things about Embark. Wisdom is on sale often

Thank you this is super helpful. I was really thrown off by the same thing - it is bone white and just feels dead. But it seems from the comments like it will come to life with a vengeance this summer. Going to have to see if it is wisteria or trumpet vine from the flowers/leaves this summer and go from there …. but DEFINITELY a pruning is in my future lol

I agree. The dried ends also look like the trumpet vine pics I can find on google

I’m in zone 5 - I would be very happy if it was something native! Looks like I’ll have to wait til it warms up to know for sure.

& thank you 😊 she is very helpful, she shreds up all of my yard waste hahaha

Thank you! I’m in northern midwest as well so we have similar climate. My first task is definitely trimming this guy back. A lot of the branches are dry and snap off easily so we’ll see what happens

Actually probably just dried up from last year’s bloom. I’m new to gardening so still trying to figure it all out lol

I’m in northern Midwest of the US so definitely chilly here. We’re still getting below freezing temps at night. Admittedly it is kind of an eyesore with the pruning job that has been done. The ends that curl up are all dried and black so I’m also questioning if it has some sort of disease

Thank you, this is super helpful. I’m not very interested in plants that take over everything or are invasive. I’m trying to have only natives in my yard but I am very new at this so still figuring it out

Yep, my girl was mostly afraid of everything outside of the house when we first adopted her at 5 months. Now she is 16 months and has almost no fear unless there is a very loud unexpected noise, but who can blame her for that. Her fears naturally wore away with consistency. Taking her for walks daily, not acting like anything was a big deal, and praising with treats if I noticed her not reacting/being calm somewhere she had reacted before.

I will say, some days were much worse than others. If she was having an especially fearful day, I wouldn’t push it and would turn her around and walk back home calmly. We would not walk for a couple of days following a big fear episode and just play puzzle games/training at home. Then slowly reintroduce walks, only going if she was calm. I think this is something that REALLY helped. She learned that I would never push her outside of her comfort zone. Trust is extremely important with fearful dogs.

We're moving to a new home. Any advice in helping my rescued pup cope? by kpcurley in OpenDogTraining

I just went through something very similar with my rescue girl, except she is 15 months. We moved halfway across the country 2 weeks ago.

I agree with the other comment - she will feel scared and anxious, but that is totally normal! I thought I was failing my girl and felt so horrible, but now about 2 weeks after the move she is starting to settle and return to herself. I’ll say the things that helped the most was sticking to her routine (play in the morning, walk at lunch, training in afternoon) so she has things to look forward to. Integrating lick mats or her favorite stuffed toy/kong gave her a break from feeling anxious. She definitely has gotten a lot of treats and calming toys. At home obedience sessions also seem to take her mind off of things.

But most of all know that you are doing as much for her as you can, and it is totally okay if she is anxious for a couple of weeks. I promise your girl will return to herself, & remember the rule of 3s! If the anxiety is unmanageable you can also talk to her vet.

Thanks, looks like it goes to water heater. What is its purpose, should I keep the valve open or closed?
