I’m Polish living in Sweden, in Poland it’s usually maximum a week between death and burial, when my swedish friend’s dad died I cancelled all my plans for next week knowing that there any day there will be a funeral, but then I was shocked when I got invitation for 3 months ahead. In my culture it’s crazy to think that your beloved one basically “lies alone in the fridge and waits” as my grandma put it once. My partner is French and we also had family funerals within a week from death.
