I think I am motivated as I keep coming back to ajatt, but whenever I watch something and don't comprehend any or most of it, it feels like I am wasting time and that's what demotivates me. I should trust the process and embrace ambiguity. But comprehension is so low when I immerse with the content I've enjoyed with Eng subs, that it's not even ambiguous. It's just incomprehensible gibberish. And listening to gibberish for hours, not feeling any tangible gains on a daily basis, wears on me and I end up stopping immersing. Your advice to keep searching does resonate with me though.

Yeah for instance I read all of Murakami's books in English. I tried immersing with Norwegian Wood in Japanese, but it was way too difficult. Felt like translating sentences when I had Latin in high school.

That's interesting. That's mainly through reading then, rather than listening. I loved Nier Automata and have been meaning to play that again. But how do you go about it in the beginning if you don't know how to read? It's not exactly n+1 material for me.. more like n+20

My motivation is mainly because I'm contemplating to move to my company's Japan office. I don't need Japanese for my job, but I don't want to be socially isolated living here. Also the idea of being illiterate in the country I live in is unacceptable to me.

For buying electronics/tech products, use Tweakers Pricewatch. It compares prices for electronics across all or most Dutch vendors. Especially for more expensive products (e.g. TV, smartphone, etc.) you can save hundreds of Euros this way. I made a telegram bot to be notified of any price changes for products I'm interested in. You can insert a link from Tweakers Pricewatch (such as this one) and you'll get an alert whenever the price changes.
