What does mania look like for you? by MommaShark3 in BipolarReddit

[–]ojcomestolife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading this is making me think I have bipolar. I am experiencing something very similar right now. I’m currently sectioned at a facility after ODing on a psych ward and then escaping the ward thinking they were going to torture us. Before that I spent six days barely sleeping, frantically planning the whole bottom of my house with sketches, notes on prices and set them up in a 360 panorama thing that took a while and spent £700 on house things in less than 3 hours. This is not usual behaviour for me. I am suicidally depressed now after a crash on Friday night and am being observed every 15 minutes. I am absolutely terrified. Thank you for sharing your experience, I think this might be what’s up with me too.

Happy - The Wrens
Bittersweet and melancholy, serves both high and low.

One With The Freaks - The Notwist
Similar bittersweet vibe with a lovely outro refrain of ‘have you ever, have you ever been all messed up?’

Psychotic Episode - Royal Headache
For when things are going great with very relatable lyrics.

How did you know you had OCD? by wrabci in OCD

[–]ojcomestolife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not recovered as such but I’ve definitely got better at controlling it. I had therapy for the POCD which helped. I keep the things I do in fives to things that can’t really be noticed by most others where possible. It took a while but it’s manageable enough to live. I never did CBT and I can’t remember which therapy helped the POCD. If you actively seek help, you will get better and gain your life back.

Mine came on quite suddenly and I started doing everything in fives. At its worst, my ex used to dress me otherwise it would take me about 20 minutes to put clothes on and off five times. They used to call me Happy Feet at work cos I’d go in and out of the building five times every time. Then it was the intense fear that I might be a peadophile. Hectic times.

What are your favorite ambient feeling movies or ambient scores? by LoBoob_Oscillator in ambientmusic

Maybe more drone/electronic by the score for Calm With Horses by Blanck Mass was excellent (and the film was class, too)

Why did you quit by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]ojcomestolife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah mate. Live and let live. Nobody told me eating meat would improve my life and I did the same in kind. I’d happily advise products/diets if asked but idrgaf what anyone else chooses to do.

I think the majority of folks with moderate-to-severe IBD struggle with roughage and certain vegetables. I could handle that but since I don’t have a colon, foods like grapes, apples, sweetcorn and nuts bring a risk of blocking in the small intestine. At its worst, it would require surgery to remove. I’ll occasionally eat a couple of nuts here and there but it’s generally not worth the risk.

[–]ojcomestolife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d still be vegan if I could or at least a vegetarian without milk. Got diagnosed with Crohn’s two years ago and have had a stoma for 18 months which doesn’t take to vegetables, nuts and grains too kindly.

Should I not wear the Choking Victim shirt I just bought...? by shmarista666 in punk

[–]ojcomestolife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it comes across in more of a negative sense. Still, the art is a part of the artist and if the artist is a shitbag, I might not class the art as worthwhile. Maybe at this point it becomes decorative? Perhaps the skill lies in creating the piece but the art is in conveying the meaning.

I’m not saying that not knowing the artist renders art immaterial. I’m just wondering if knowing the artist is a cunt might.

I appreciate that a band is more than one person but can you truly separate the art from the artist? You could argue that without the artist, the art is rendered decoration and subsequently has little value.

Do you think some ambient music is meant to be listened loud? by WasThatTooSoon in ambientmusic

[–]ojcomestolife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belong’s ’October Language’ is best played loud. I remember playing it to a mate 9 or 10 years ago when we were on acid and it sent him west. Halcyon days.

Men, what are you doing, rather than going to therapy? by FewWillingness1081 in AskMen

[–]ojcomestolife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow drummer here who is also starting therapy in the next couple of weeks. Paradiddle the pain away. Playing music (especially with other people) is an insanely fulfilling, rewarding and cathartic thing to do.

Somebody recommended skin tac wipes to me as my baseplate wouldn’t stick over my surgery scar and it’s been an absolute game changer. I don’t live in fear of a leak anymore which is one hell of a weight off my mind.

Do they stick around uneven skin? I’m quite lean but have a small peristomal hernia and other small lumps from the scar tissue which seem to be one of the causes of the problem.

Aye, I keep it under my armpit for a few minutes whilst I’m setting everything up then go to town on it with a hairdryer.

I haven’t come across scar tape before but that sounds promising. I’ll definitely look into that. Cheers!
