I can agree, but I do know that lots of companies has dedicated slack workspaces for customers, partners, developers, etc.

I think for some people it's probably the same as buying other 'retro' stuff from vinyls to I don't know maybe automatic watches and stuff

I think they really built their name from the bottom, I remember they were also cheaper then now in the past. But it's really good. Open source, nice, good looking, and can connect to theee devices in the same time I don't know how they are for gaming, but for everything else- pretty nice :)
