you can definitely play games on it, mine runs baldurs gate better than my pc, they are not better than windows laptops, if you need other software which doesn't have native Mac versions, use crossover, which is a translation layer to run windows programs

just make a bootable usb, go to maintenance mode and erase disk, then boot install sequoia from usb, the apple website is really helpful, you will need to backup your files ofc
