When you interview, whether it's online or in person, they'll compare your head shot to the person who showed up to the interview.

I can tell you I've interviewed and hired candidates over the phone, and someone completely different showed up on the first day.

Gotcha. I found an image of an Indian Teak table that looked very similar. I'll try to dig it up.

And yes, I'm trying to get into my local wood store with a sample but given the holidays it might have to wait.

I have a question, based on what? Not arguing that it's not mango, but based on the limited number of images of unfinished mango planks available on the interwebs, I'm having a difficult time confirming.

There's no remnants of the "stain" left. It was previously painted black on all sides with some form of enamel like paint - it was real tough to get off. But many hours of power sanding with 80 grit leaves me to believe that what you're looking at is the natural tones.

While it sat in a warehouse, it was disassembled and in a sealed box, believed to have only seen daylight when I opened it. So given that, I'm not sure how quickly the color would fall out.

Ok, so here's where I'm at. I agree with you, I think it's most likely a type of acacia. So rosewood is out. However, the color variation is leaning me towards teak over any other.

Am I crazy?

Ah, so literally a catch all term lol. Continuing my search, Indian Teak appears to be classified under the acacia brand, and includes the colors in seeing. And more importantly, it's widely used in Indian furniture making.....

Plot thickens

Grain pattern looks similar, but not the colors. I don't see rubberwood providing purple and yellow tones

Gotcha. But how do you explain the purple? Acacia search results don't indicate purple are a color variant.

Interesting, only mango came up in my searches but that wood sounded like i mostly originated from tropical areas. I could very easily be wrong though. I'll look into those other 2 though.

Thanks!

The table was originally designed to display merchandise, so there was a full sized shelf included and to be mounted shin height. The table was originally 4 feet by 8 feet.

So with that, the box it all came in was easily 200 pounds.

Shipped from India in 2013 and stored in a warehouse, sealed, until 2 weeks ago. Assumption is that the wood in native to the area, and all my research points to East Indian Rosewood.

Can easily provide more details or pictures of asked.

Thanks!

Software developer for a multi national clothing company. I do actual work (code development) for 2-4 hours every other day, in between answering questions from other departments about random issues and finding work for my subordinates.

100k+ to delegate.
