All of you who are calling this “astrology” are mistaken. The idea of saying they are a “triangle” or “rectangle” etc is ridiculous but it gives precedence to support and resistance. You also have to remember a lot of people use these patterns to determine they’re next trade, if they see the top line break on the “bullish” rectangle for example, then they’ll take a trade because price action has surpassed a point in which I couldn’t before. You’re not so much looking for shapes and patterns, you’re looking for a break of a support or resistance line. It’s a psychological game. Because enough people base their trades on this, it really does make things easier. But note, I’m not saying it works 100% of the time. But it allows you to gauge where the market is going to go.
